They did until we voted Brexit.

    New Labour Leader

It’s only perceived as hard left because of how far right we’ve been dragged.

    New Labour Leader

You can’t even define what that means. Neither can anyone else. You won the Brexit argument fair enough - but you need to stop with this British Empire bollocks.

    General Election 2019 thread

I think you are right, and unfortunately Labour incorrectly came down on the wrong side of the debate about Brexit... people don’t want to have another vote when their original vote wasn’t listened to.

    General Election 2019 thread

I never made you out to be anti-Labour, I couldn’t understand why you wouldn’t vote Labour considering you had always done before. I also said that you spent so long trying to be ‘devil’s advocate’ that you didn’t actually appear to have any kind of opinion. You were right about Corbyn not...

    General Election 2019 thread

I didn’t say anything about policies did I? Happy to look at how we adapt to become more appealing/palatable whatever you want to call it. But it’s not unreasonable to say there are some lines that shouldn’t be crossed. Believing in these things doesn’t mean automatically ‘hammering the rich’...

Jess Phillips would be the choice that Murdoch would pick.... speaks volumes.

    General Election 2019 thread

As a member I don’t ever want to see our party return to abstaining on austerity, supporting cruel and unnecessary welfare sanctions and using a racist rhetoric on immigration.

Reward for being a covert Brexit enabler.... Agent Swinson can now return to the nest.

Murdoch’s choice no doubt.... make of that what you will.

    General Election 2019 thread

It’s called socialism. Corbyn was only the vehicle to bring it to the fore after being lost. It might need a little refining but its defining principles are there and will go on after him.

    General Election 2019 thread

This is where you are wrong. Boris’ message did matter to the electorate (no matter how much we do or do not like it) If you had got your wish then a new leader with the same PV message would have been defeated. In a way you should be happy - Corbyn is gone, a new leader won’t have to deal with...

    General Election 2019 thread

I believed in him because I was sick of champagne politics by people that didn’t give a fuck. He had a different style - a compassion that you rarely see. I make no apologies for supporting and defending him. Was that naive in the cold light of day? Yes because sadly that style didn’t work for...

Training bursaries being removed has been a killer just in that area.

Chuka all day long. Even more than Swinson.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

It’s happening - the debate seems almost meaningless from this point on. Boris owns this - it’s all on him now.

    General Election 2019 thread

But it’s been a collective failure of Labour and Tory governments to not have a functioning system. We need unskilled and skilled immigration, and each group needs its own robust system - not a one size fits all model.

    General Election 2019 thread

It’s not about ‘increasing’ immigration for the sake of it. But where do you get doctors/nurses if the country can’t produce it’s own? It’s multi layered and very complex.... not just the sub total of Farage standing in front of a poster saying ‘don’t let them in’

    General Election 2019 thread

No one can mitigate for that kind of logic. I heard lots of people saying that didn’t like Corbyn - but never could articulate why. At least on here those that disliked him explained their reasons why and you could understand - even if you fundamentally disagreed. Perhaps the next leader won’t...

    General Election 2019 thread

It wasn’t about it being Corbyn, it was about the policies and vision and him being the first to bring them to the table. In the future Labour have to retain the majority (not all) of those ideas if they ever want to be a force in government.
