Statement against the Council and ACL

Ah, you're still better than me. I use a toilet plunger stuck to my forehead to pound out my witterings. It took me three hours to write this, and the bog's still blocked in the meantime. :)

Do you need to own your own stadium to be successful?

This is one of those simple solutions to a complex problem again, right? ;) I think there is a deal to be done somewhere - but I don't think it of necessity quite works this way. What happens to ACL or the £6.5m that the Higgs put in? I think there's going to have to be a transfer of cash or...

Do you need to own your own stadium to be successful?

Indeed, as are many that own their own stadium. Personally, I think the reasonable line to take here is that the club needs access to the income streams that the stadium generates, rather than ownership of the stadium itself.

Be careful what you wish for...

I've got to say I'm sorry to hear of a club with the history and tradition of Leeds being dicked about by an owner who is clearly not fit and proper. What this shows, again, is that the FL and FA have their heads up their arses (imho). I hope that you get shot of this owner ASAP - it's...

Simon Gilbert, has there been an FL response?

In all honesty mate, I think I'd more or less bought into it - the club seemed determined to sell it as the way forward and I trusted them more then than I do now! Looking back, of course, it's turned out to be an epic disaster. When I see clubs like West Ham, seemingly set to embark on a...

    2014/5 fixtures

I must admit I'm not really interested in the fixtures for next year; without banging on about it this is for most of the reasons people have mentioned above. However, there are a couple of things in general that irk me. You should either start or finish the season with a home fixture. Being...

    Capital One Cup

Mate, given that you and your lad represent a significant proportion of the gate I think courtesy suggests that you should let them know - odds are they'll put it back a week for you in any case. Saying that Conor Thomas, at least, will be relieved: CT: Eh, Jordan, that bloke in the main...

    Valuations of ACL

First off, SISU weren't exploring their options pre-agreement with ACL and Higgs - they'd already proposed the Road Map to everyone by this point, and were notionally all working together to deliver it. Approaching the bank at that point was done without agreement and was bound to damage trust...

    Valuations of ACL

I read it Godiva - I just don't agree with your interpretation. You started off by saying that SISU didn't approach the bank behind the Council's back, but it's there in black and white that they did. There might be some dispute as to whether they approached the bank again later - but rather...

    Valuations of ACL

Yes, it did gain my respect that he'd say that. But talk is cheap, and what matters now is action. I don't see the point of trying to force everyone to come clean now, and I seriously doubt it's ever going to happen. This isn't Jeremy Kyle, and everyone is going to be very wary about being...

    Valuations of ACL

They did do it. SISU went to the bank, off their own backs, in (I think) March/April. It's in the Higgs document, and it's not denied in the JR. It seems that the Council took exception to it too, at that point in time. SISU can claim what they want, but clearly they were prepared to go to...

    Valuations of ACL

Apart from the fact I've never watched Jeremy Kyle (honest!) the problem with this is that we're never going to get to the whole truth and it will take forever. We don't have forever, and I don't need 'closure'. ;) Confession: I met TF briefly on Thursday, after the trial, and although we...

    Valuations of ACL

On this one bit, Godiva, there was evidence presented in the Higgs case that suggests you are incorrect. There was an email quoted from (as I recall) PKWH and someone at ACL the council saying that they were very unhappy to learn that SISU had approached YB unilaterally, not long after the Road...

    Valuations of ACL

Well that's still true, isn't it? I think the QC quoted here is making the point that the £10k/game wasn't rent, it was matchday costs. Whilst SISU of course have been claiming that it was rent. Do you think that if ACL threatened to lock CCFC out we really wouldn't have heard about it via...

    Jimmy Hill..

I think that's American Football rather than proper football, but I know there's been discussion about this elsewhere. I found this, fwiw... http://www.headball.com/hazards.html Certainly during Jimmy's playing era, balls would've been much heavier. If I took a lesson from the above, I think...

    Murphy gone

You are Geoffrey Boycott and I claim my five pounds. You should never ask a man if he's from Yorkshire. If he is, he'll tell you, and if he isn't, why embarrass him. :)

SP: We've Made Offers, Just Waiting For Responses

    I was thinking, 1GK, 2CB, 2FB, 1DM, 1AM, 1RM, 1LM, 2 strikers. And a new set of owners, please. ;)

    Murphy gone

Pity he's gone. I wasn't convinced about him at first, but he's really won me over in all honesty. I'm not sure the club have handled this brilliantly, because I think there was a chance of him staying if we'd offered him a contract before the end of the season, but regardless it's done now...

    Valuations of ACL

They're never going to agree on what's gone on. The one indisputable fact is that SISU stopped paying the rent and moved the club to Northampton. What's gone on around that - well we've had two court cases, plus an administration, and I still don't think it's clear. My personal opinion is...

    Valuations of ACL

Isn't there also stuff in there that points out that YB were willing to lend £15.5 million on a restructured deal to ACL? I think it's largely accepted that without the club ACL will struggle - which I guess was at least in part the point of the bail-out. It's also clear, isn't it, that at...
