I think it lessens the game of football as a whole. It just shifts the area of contention, and removes the spontaneity from the game. That spontaneity is a big part of what makes football by far the best sport on the planet.

Also not getting them. A lot of instances this season of giving the ball away really cheaply by looking for a free kick when there's no free kick there. Tbh, I just think it shows a general lack of nous in the team.

Neither Wright nor especially EMC have great decision making generally.

Think Simms has had a good season, and has been unlucky with how he's been managed.

Says it all that they included Simms v. Leicester. It bounced off him!

Potential change to the playoffs being voted on. Possibility of it going the same way as the National League (still the GM Vauxhall Conference, as far as I am concerned), where six teams qualify for the POs. teams finishing in places 5 to 8 play each other in a single game, the winners going...

Hayden Hackney is a significantly better player than Brandon Thomas-Asante. And even if Hackney were missing for a length of time, whilst it would affect their team, no doubt they'd find a way of adapting and avoiding a catastrophic down-turn in form.

And the three quarters of our back four weren't fit enough to start, and we had two central midfielders available. Sometimes circumstance affects outcomes. All that game highlighted was that if you take half of our team away, we'll struggle, even if in form. They were justified in being...

Must have had some pretty dirty sides in the 70s after playing at places like the Baseball Ground.

Yep, you're probably right. Brandon Thomas-Asante's place in the starting line up is the difference between us being a team of all-conquering Championshp supermen and a bunch of mentally shot lower mid-table plodders. We missed his energy, no question, but adjustments should and could have...

It may have been a factor but it's over-simplifying to blame one thing. Disruption from illness, naively continuing with the same tactics when they stopped giving us the same results, and general mismanagement of the squad hurt us way more than the loss of any one player.

To a point that's true, but to throw it away from the position we were in would be a pretty abject failure. The form didn't have to be sustainable, we had a margin for error and could afford a drop off in results. What we had to do was avoid collapsing. We've conspicuously failed to do that.
