I think he will have to buy another ticket and will not get a refund for his season ticket. I asked about upgrading my son's season ticket to an adult ticket for 1 game and was told I had to get them to cancel his ticket & buy it full price as an adult ticket.

Man Utd want unused tickets returned to the club so they can sell them again. My friend who is a STH can only miss 3 games and if he does he will not be allowed to renew his ST, next season it is 2 games. I don't know if he gets anything off Man Utd if he can't go & releases the ticket.

That has been an issue with a Man Utd fan who although he has a season ticket has to get a paper ticket to get in & the system thinks he isn't attending and they have removed his season ticket. There was an uproar and they backed down but it is an issue with those without smart phones.

I think they use Google wallet on android, not sure on iPhone. All my tickets for flights are in my Google wallet as well as concert tickets

You might not have any choice in it, Man Utd season tickets are already digital only and they are not transferable & I suspect other clubs are doing it and we will in the next 2-3 seasons 😡
