    4-4-2

On what evidence? Oh when he played on the left for Rangers and Blackpool? He's scored 5 in pre season for US playing AMC. Fleck is not a LM, why play him there? Oh, I forgot, when playing AMC, you need to chip in defensively, yes, but not as much as LCM, especially with no wingers and...

    Line up v Sheffield United?

But when they've played on the wings, they've been ineffective.:) Actually, Baker was at his best 'in the hole' for Stockport and inconsistent on the wing for us.

    Thorn is not the man.

And Santos use it now... Norwich, 2 promotions in a row, Swindon, one of the favourites this year. Who says we need to play formations that only English teams use, AT can use formations used abroad. If you think we should play 4-4-2 because it was a popular formation, it shows the...

    Thorn is not the man.

I remember seeing it in an old programme my mate had where it showed the team with the formation, we used in at least 2 games. B.Gudjonsson, Delameaux, suffo, Macca, Joachim all played. Even though AC Milan play it now  Italy play 4-1-3-2 but Monty pushes forward making it a diamond...

    Line up v Sheffield United?

Whilst not answering your question entirely, AC Milan use it, Italy also, with Monty pushing forward to form a diamond. Covered that one for me while posting on another thread - thanks!

    4-4-2

Of course I do, but Fleck, clearly being a AMC should nothave to worry about defensive duties and get on with playing a 'killer' ball or a 'magical' dribble etc. which at LCM, needs a fair amount of defensive attention, especially with Hussey at LB, as he likes to get forward and isn't amazing...

    Thorn is not the man.

Tbh, I did watch a few games under Black (note: I was 9 when he was manager and didn't get up that often because no one could take me, bar football manager or football team) and after looking back at programmes when he managed he played a lot of formations, 4-3-3, 4-2-4, diamond 4-4-2. The point...

    4-4-2

Like the posters on here getting all upset with a draw AWAY? 3-5-2 might work well against 4-4-2 (other formations with 2 strikers) playing teams but I thinl we should stick with 4 at the back.

    Line up v Sheffield United?

So basically the diamond. We're not, because when we have it we do worse, refer to: Ross County, ICT, Nuneaton and Wrexham for whrn we played with wingers...

    Memo to Mr Thorne

What about in his caretaker role (when he arguably kept us up) when he had; Westwood, Turner, Gunna, King, Juke (as well as Keogh, of course) at his disposal, losing them condemed us to a relegation, especially when was replaced with 2 goalies and a striker! We all know AT had his...

    Line up v Sheffield United?

We haven't lost with it in pre-season nor in the season, why 'fix' something when it clearly is not broken... He tried 4-4-2 when the PLAYERS wanted it and I can't recall getting a result with it!? :jerkit::claping hands:

    Memo to Mr Thorne

I'm no supporter of Thorn, I'm on the fence atm, let him prove himself and having digs at his appearance is pathetic and a 'low-blow', judge on this season, not appearance.
  13. Mucca Mad Boys

    Line up v Sheffield United?

Agreed. Also, how can he choose 4-4-2 as a formation    :pointlaugh: ;)
  14. Mucca Mad Boys

    Memo to Mr Thorne

Ball?  If we want to keep the ball on deck, we do not NEED a striker who can hold up the ball! (We already have one in Ball) Btw, it's Thorn! Just out of curiosity, where's your ST seat? You're a TW@
  15. Mucca Mad Boys

    Line up v Sheffield United?

How come he's never on form? ... Or is it that he is just SH!T!? Now we have Fleck, he is a squad member, not a 1st teamer imo.
  16. Mucca Mad Boys

    4-4-2

Are you asking me? If so, I was asking posters on here, who criticise the diamond formation - which worked in his caretaker role - and suggest we play 4-4-2 (Note to those posters: We're in the 21st century), and as I don't believe it'll suit us nor how to play flat 4 in midfield...
  17. Mucca Mad Boys

    Line up v Sheffield United?

How would the posters on SBT play the team on Tuesday? I would play it like this: -------------Murphy-------------- Clarke--Brown--Wood--Hussey ------------Jennings------------- ------Barton------Kilbane------- -------------Fleck*--------------- -----Elliott/Ball----McDonald----- *If not 100%...

    4-4-2

Yes, but looked a further class above when Torres played, e.g. V Ireland and Final compared to v Italy (in group when Italy should've won imo) and Croatia (scraped a 1-0) I agree with Nonleaguewelcomehere when he says Baker + 'Macca' winger just DO NOT cut it, but to add to it, I think Baker...
  19. Mucca Mad Boys

    is this acceptable.......

No one said we weren't going to improve on the performance etc. I agree with what 'thechase' said of your original post. Well said :claping hands: As I see it, we are 'bigger' than most teams in the division based on heritage, BUT, that is the past and doesn't give us the divine right to run...

Kilbane is the best choice for captain, 110 int'l appearances!? No one has played at a higher level than him and nearly got promoted with Hud'field! Just because he is skipper does not mean he is going to start every game! Wood, I hope is VC and when Thomas gets back I doubt he'll even start...
