    Coventry RFC Thread 18/19

I'll dodge the politics (for once) and just say this - if you like the game then there's no better place to watch rugby than the Butts. This was a storming performance against a team who are no mugs. It could well be the first Cov side that I've ever seen win a division! :)

Clem? He's an oaf. Always has been, always will be. The one good thing about Channel 5 getting the football is that I don't have to watch that boorish twat patronise people on his club 'visits'.

Match Thread Coventry City - Boreham Wood Match Thread - Sunday 3rd Dec

Not too shabby that. I appreciate it's not the toughest opposition we'll face, but I thought we looked well organised in defence and pretty handy in attack. Lots of decent crosses pinged in. Credit too for not rising to the bait - a few cheap shots dished out from the Boreham players...

Positive News for the Academy - Wasps pull out of Higgs

If interest rates are higher than inflation, as they are for Wasps bond repayment, then the real value of the debt increases. And no business can rely on a single individual to keep bailing them out. At some point every investor looks for a return, bails out, or dies. (I'm not wishing Mr...

Positive News for the Academy - Wasps pull out of Higgs

Yep, and like most of OSB's stuff it's very well thought out. I've replied over there rather than dragging it out on here. Basically though, my thoughts are that whichever way you stack it, you can't keep rolling over debt forever, and for all of the hoopla I don't think Wasps finances are as...

    Wasps current finances & hope

Great analysis as ever, OSB. I'm sorry to hear you've not been well, but as others have said it clearly hasn't diminshed your intellect! Your logic looks sound, as usual, but my gut feel (fwiw) is still that as a business you can't keep rolling over debt forever without it catching up on you...

I'm in. First suggestion, let's move Otis to Head of Transport, he's a natural.

Don't forget the new 200,000 seater stadium (which you've almost got planning permission for), complete with sliding roof, pitches, Harrods outlet, and most importantly, wheels, so that we can move it somewhere else when you fall out with the Council. ;)

Positive News for the Academy - Wasps pull out of Higgs

I think the thing about refinancing, is that next time they're going to have to pay even more interest to draw people in. That's a combination of rates slowly rising, and increased risk. That has to be a drain on profit, and I don't think it can go on forever...

    Butts Park ruled out

So calling people deluded and radicalised because they don't share your view of things isn't insulting? Unbelievable.

Of course, it's similarly one-eyed to ignore all of the Council's faults in this, all of the bullshit around the Wasps deal etc., but then people are often blind to their own biases.

    Things that annoy you

Steady on now. I'd say that both OCD and depression are on a spectrum. There's no switch that suddenly flips you from 'low mood' into 'clinical depression', and indeed different doctors might diagnose people with the same symptoms enitrely differently. And there are plenty of people with...

Positive News for the Academy - Wasps pull out of Higgs

At the risk of getting drawn into a very old argument here, there are a few points that you're clearly overlooking. The first one is that the Council told a huge lie right at the start of selling to Wasps. It's well documented, and it's along the lines of 'we need to build trust before talking...

    Boris Johnson

Because people hate politicians and he's clever enough to avoid being seen as one? See Trump. Boris isn't as dangerous as Trump, because he does have some vestigial intelligence, but I'm sure he's as much of a narcissist, willing to do or say anything that gets him what he wants regardless of...

Positive News for the Academy - Wasps pull out of Higgs

Possibly for some Stu mate, so it's a fair point, but it's not true for everyone. I'd want no part of supporting the Wasps franchise, even if it was of benefit to CCFC. I don't want to see Wasps genuine fans suffer, as they've had enough of that already - however I want their club out of the...

    Dale Evans .......

Hmm. Wonder why the council didn't sell it on the open market last time then? Regardless, there are hardly likely to be a large amount of takers for a purpose-built 32,000 stadium with no long term tenant. Unless perhaps we can attract another 'nomadic' rugby club from London. Hey, maybe...
