I’m not arguing for it at all… I just think that for every argument that Carr has the right to make the joke, the argument for people being upset/offended (especially if the joke represents their culture) is just as valid.

To be fair a few other people have said similar. The only person still going over the top is Nick who now thinks that actual Romas are making too much of it.

She didn’t say anything about hate speech - just said the joke was grotesque. I don’t think it is hate speech personally, just more an indictment of someone who has to ‘up the ante’ on unpleasant jokes just to get a laugh.

Who said anything about polling constituents. If one of them contacted her and said he had offended their community it is her job to represent that…. It’s literally what she is paid for.

Maybe it is about context - but that doesn’t take away from the fact it’s in really poor taste. I can’t say I’m offended but it’s not a joke that is relevant to me, and being outraged and calling for him to cancelled ends up being counter productive, as he’ll get an even bigger platform to whine...
