    USSR invades Ukraine.

Never happen in this country, the M4 is a bollox once you get past Slough. Last stand at Heston services might be the best we could hope for, probably wouldn't even get to the ULEZ. 😄

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Funny in a way. Russia went into Ukraine, thinking they'd whip down the highway, take Kyiv, and replace the President in three days. Turns out that the whole country was willing to fight and die to stop that happening. Wagner, heading for Moscow, might well be there in two!

    USSR invades Ukraine.

The key will be whether the regular Russian army is willing to die for Putin. If they either join with Wagner or just sit on their hands, it might be all over for Putin. Otherwise you'd have to think Wagner is finished. Either result could be good for Ukraine. This was always Putin's...

    Cedric Roussel RIP

Just saw this myself (and started a thread at the same time!). Really sad news, I always thought he was a very decent player in a really good team. Led the line well and unselfishly, and had no little ability. No age at all, as others have said.

    Cedric Roussel RIP

Just spotted on twitter that Roussel passed away today. That's tremendously sad news. I'll always remember him as a significant part of a very exciting City team. In his mid forties too, that's no age at all. RIP. http://standard.be/nl/news/cedric-roussel

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Skills! If I tried that I'd be arse over tit in the first three seconds and likely shoot my foot off! How practical it is, I've no idea, but it's obvious that Ukraine's forces are far more adaptable and motivated than the Russians. If they had something close to parity in close air support...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It's the old, if the only tool you've got is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail, thing. If the government really wants to take money out of the economy then I suspect there are fairer and quicker mechanisms than raising interest rates (which have an inbuilt lag on inflation reduction...

Priority sale to ST holders who have signed over their firstborn and also donated a (healthy) kidney to Doug. Queue on Ticketshafter actually started yesterday, but it's a secret. 😁

I'm genuinely not trolling here, but @rob9872 should be more than happy. You might as well vote Labour and join the collective mate, you certainly couldn't be accused of abandoning your values! 😁

Last game at home is always my preference, ideally against someone crap, but not crap enough to be in a relaxation scrap! Can't think who that might be off the top of my head though - suggestions?

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Slightly different topic, but there's an excellent (imho) editorial on the difference between how everyone is busting a gut, (rightfully) to save a few very rich westerners in peril in a mini-sub... As compared to what's happened in the med where a boat carrying 750 migrants (including children)...

It's still light until 10:00pm, the lazy blighters. 🙂 Saying that I'm still not sure who might be praying for rain at the end of the day, us or them!

Fair enough, I respect the honesty. As said, I can differ from your opinion without having to hate you personally! So have a good one, I'm abandoning this to do some work (and possibly listen to the cricket, if it's on yet). 🙂

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

If he didn't it was because Boris told him not to. Boris was hoping that by nobody opposing the motion it would go through "on the nod", i.e. without a formal recorded vote, and on that basis no one could know how little support he actually has amongst Tory MPs. Like Boris, at heart Mogg is a...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Hold up mate. It seemed to me that the crux of your argument was that everyone was at it anyway, so why should Boris et al be punished just for being Tories? However that argument is based purely on your opinion and behaviour; it seems that largely (but not universally), people tried to follow...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Nope, but nice try. People are "triggered" because they can see the obvious injustice, hypocrisy, and dishonesty. There are people (lots of them) who couldn't see their loved ones, alive, or when they were dying, or even go to their funerals. But those rules didn't apply to the "Jingle and...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Pete, as ever you are a man of reason and I know where you and others are coming from with this. The truth is though, that I can't 'engage' with this version of the Labour party. They are becoming less and less aligned to the things that are important to me; equality of opportunity, a fairer...
