Video Goal of the Season 2017/18

I love the optimism, but, I think we’d need to bring in a fair few players in for us to be within the top 6. Top half is probably doable.

Video Goal of the Season 2017/18

Man, one thing that’s clear is how much we miss Jones! His ball control and dribbling in the first 3-4 goals was absolute quality. Biamou’s v Yeovil is my goal of the season — such a well struck goal. I did enjoy Andreu’s v Shrewsbury and Jones’ Lincoln. So much quality we’re missing out on!

    McNulty's Goals

We've already paid a fee for JCH, allegedly, we paid 125k as a 'loan fee'. I think his loan is a formality and will be made permanent in the summer. Otherwise, it's a total waste of money.

    McNulty's Goals

I disagree, because if that was the case, Nazon wouldn't have been scoring either. Jones was our top of our assists column too, he really was creating a lot of goals. Games such as Chesterfield away he shown glimpses of what was to come, but things just didn't come off for him, we know he played...

    McNulty's Goals

Why? In 15 games he's been involved in 8 goals, 3 goals (the stats don't accredit him with the Crewe goal) and 5 assists, compared to Biamou who's on 4 goals and 4 assists over 37 games. In reality, most of Biamou's production has come in the last 10 or so games. When people were slating...

    Transfer Rumour Sunderland relegation-Coleman Gone

He did well with Wales. The only way I think anyone thought he could get them to the semi-finals of the Euros was if he was an avid player of Football Manager... I have no idea why he left Wales to take on Sunderland job, what backwards career step.

    McNulty's Goals

I disagree, pace isn’t an important facet of his game. Good ball control and great mid range shot are some of his best attributes. If anything, he’d have less space the higher up the footballing pyramid we/he goes. In any case, he’s definitely not slow by any stretch of the imagination, to me...

    McNulty's Goals

That’s a good shout, I’m also hoping that, if we fail to get promoted, that we sign Akinfenwa. The last club he got promoted with didn’t renew his contract — I’m hoping Wycombe do the same. However, I imagine the possibility of that is very low. I think we need a few wingers, that’s the main...

    Goals from midfield/Shipley

I think the problem is a bit deeper than the deliveries. I think we don’t really have anyone who really attacks the ball in the box. JCH has showed glimpses, so to has Davies. McDonald, Willis and Grimmer (among others), aren’t that aggressive. Luton were good that, their captain (and first goal...

    McNulty's Goals

He’s showing some good form atm, and I think his first season has been a big transition for him, from part-timer to professional and non-league to L2, hopefully he can hit 10 league goals at least next season. Same with JCH, I think if we’re to sign a striker for next season, will probably be a...

    Goals from midfield/Shipley

Indeed, and even that goal came in Game 2. Our general lack of goals from set pieces has definitely held us back a bit. Even with the goals from midfield in this latest stretch, it is something of a ‘goal glut’ in comparison to most of the season. Hopefully it continues Saturday and in the playoffs.

Match Thread Coventry City v Morecambe Match Thread Saturday 5th May

This is actually a somewhat dangerous game. Morecambe need a point to stay up whilst Barnet play Chesterfield. Nonetheless, we need to put them to the sword as we did v Cheltenham. 3-1 win for me.

    Goals from midfield/Shipley

His turn and finish v Lincoln really was a piece of quality skill! Shipley also has quite a decent variety of goals scored — I rated him from the Blackburn game (despite him attracting criticism). I’m feeling a lot more confident about our chances next season with Jones and Andreu back too. If...

    Davies

What rumours? The truth is, McDonald hasn’t been good at all recently. He had absolute mares against Yeovil, Lincoln and gave away a cheap goal v Stevenage. It must be frustrating for Tom Davies, every time he seems to establish himself as a first choice, he gets injured. The perfect antidote...

    McNulty's Goals

Agreed here! Statistically, he scored a goal every 2.7 games with Pompey, over 46 games that’s 17 goals. My expectation was about 15-20 goals. Staggeringly, he has managed to bump up his average to a goal every 1.7 games. I think we’ll keep him too, Robins seems adamant he’s not going to sell...

    McNulty's Goals

He has. But, in 50-odd games you’re bound to have a few off games. Even look at Ponticelli, scored corkers v Notts County and Crawley, followed up by missing a clear cut chance v Lincoln. That’s life as a striker!

    McNulty's Goals

Well, apparently he wasn’t a ‘natural goalscorer’ according to a few people... To hit 26 goals in a season is fantastic form, well done Robins and the recruitment team!

Match Thread Coventry City at Cheltenham Town Match Thread - Saturday 28th Apr

How would that work? In that given scenario we’d have the same goal difference. Would it go to h2h or goals scored? Either way, I’d rather be going into the last game of the season on a higher GD than the team below us.

Done ourselves a massive favour getting the our goal difference up! We really should beat Morecambe but now we’ve got a little insurance policy and Mansfield have to win by more than 1 goal.
