Time to forget the past ?

It shouldn’t be a case of forgive and forget... but we should avoid being cynically paranoid every transfer window of a sellout of all our players. Which hasn’t happened for a while.

What position does he play? Central or on the wings? It says all 3 on a website I checked. Typically, wingers and strikers attract larger fees than defenders and midfielders so that could possibly explain why he got such a larger fee than our own.

    Ccfc transfer rumours

Well, if we were in for that Woodyard, who’s gone for a fee of £225k, you’d imagine we have at least about 150-200k to spend on a player. Presumably not including wages, and the fact we need more than one signing. Perhaps there’s a significant kitty.

    Summer Recruitment

Everton clearly values Lookman more than Spurs, Liverpool and Arsenal (of rumours were to be beloved) valued Maddison if they were gazumped by Norwich to sign him... A team will pay what they believe a player is worth. Maybe there was a bidding war for Lookman? At least for Maddison and IIRC...

    Bayliss market value

£2m at an absolute minimum. We wanted £1.5m for Stevenson in L1, and Bayliss is twice the player, and we’re under no pressure to sell. We should hold out this season unless stupid offers of £4-5m and above start coming in (unlikely). Robins would’ve spoke to Bayliss and said staying in L1 for...

    Summer Recruitment

This Lookman chap has 5 goals, 3 assists in 11 appearances in the Bundesliga, and has scored 2 more in the Europa League. You seem to be quite dismissive of his ability if you think Maddison is going to be ‘far better’ than him... Personally I thought £3m was a bit low, my basement was £5m, but...

    Summer Recruitment

We haven’t been ‘fisted’ at all. Without add-ons from Norwich, if he is sold for the quoted amount this summer, we’ll end up with about £5.5-9m. Which is more than what MK Dons got for Alli, who is going to World Cup with England, which undermines your rudimentary argument.

    Summer Recruitment

Try closer to £3m, with add-ons apparently making the deal worth up to £9m. With sell-on clauses, at 10% (which is low) we’d get £2.5-3m if he goes for the quoted £25-30m, it’s closer to 20%, those figures double. The total could be between £5.5-9m, so actually, if it’s not that bad a deal at...

    Summer Recruitment

Money isn’t everything in a footballer’s life. Career development is obviously the priority at someone his age. I’m happy he made his debut for Wales, and that’ll probably justify his move (to himself) because I doubt he’d have been selected had he scored 20-25 goals in L2 with us. This said...

I read somewhere he made 2 bench appearances. Unused of course.

    Ccfc transfer rumours

We beat Cheltenham 6-1, Notts County 4-1 (only their 3rd loss at home) and Exeter 3-1. We seemed to change to a quasi-diamond/flat 4 in midfield against Cheltenham (after the Lincoln loss) and haven’t lost since.

He already has when talking to the Telegraph about keeping ahold of key players (Bayliss, McNulty and JP). He said it’s hard adjusting from 1st team football back into development football in what was obviously a swipe at Thomas. Let’s be honest, Thomas career has taken a backward step this year...

    Ccfc transfer rumours

Shipley is so underrated and goes under the radar a bit because he’s in Tom ‘Golden Boy’ Bayliss’ shadow. He’s 21 in September and has only made about 7 more appearances (1 more start), yet, has the same amount as goals as Bayliss. He does give the ball away with that first time pass he does...

    Sympathy for Shrewsbury & Exeter.

All the best for next season! After missing out twice, I literally can't even comprehend how that feels, Monday was my first chance to see Cov in a playoff final and Cov's only opportunity at promotion in 51 years. So commiserations, I hope you do better than Notts County and join us in L1 for...

    Monday Summary & Thanks

100% agreed. It’s in the past now, but it really makes you think what could’ve been had we managed to keep him in his first stint. He’s not the best manager out there, but, he’s a perfect fit for the club. He’s pragmatic in the transfer market, he has utilised our talented academy and most...

    Sympathy for Shrewsbury & Exeter.

To be blunt, and this doesn’t make for a good reading for the Exeter fans... If they’ve missed out on automatic promotion, and lost two playoff finals in consecutive season, then clearly they aren’t ready for L1.

    Sympathy for Shrewsbury & Exeter.

If we did the old way, there wouldnt have been a playoff final to have been played between Exeter and Cov... You’re right, a season is 46 games and not one and over the season, neither Shrewsbury nor Exeter were good enough for automatics. So it’s a moot point, and the end of this discussion...

The "Have Sunderland Created Another Coventry Thread on Their Forum ?" thread

Man, these people need to get a grip. That one game has no impact on their troubles as a sorry club for long enough that the normal person could care to remember... Bitter fans, bitter club.

    Ccfc transfer rumours

Definitely a presence, but to say he was a menace is a bit of a stretch tbh. The only player I was concerned about was Stockley, who won just about every aerial duel in the first half. In all honesty, we did completely shut them out, limiting them to long shots. Would I sign him? Nope. Would...

    Ccfc transfer rumours

I personally thought Kelly and Doyle dominated the midfield, any signings in centre midfield have to be an option better than Kelly and Doyle. We've looked unstoppable since we've played Bayliss, Kelly, Doyle and Shipley in the midfield four.
