Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Starmer is to the left of Blair. He’s taken Blair’s strategy of centrism on immigration/spending/crime but he goes much further on infrastructure than Blair did, and not through PFI. He’s less idolising of the finance sector than Blair, and not religious. I would be on Sure Start or something...

    The Kase(y) for Palmer

And that’s all this thread is trying to say really. He is actually the best in the squad at an important area of the game for his position and deserves recognition of that fact. I don’t buy the lazy complaints, all modern players throw their hand up these days, O’Hare spends half his game on the...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Because you keep studiously missing the point. And you imply that by not voting those who do are somehow selling out or whatever. Starmer is heading into office promising nationalised energy and rail, that alone puts him to the left of everyone post Thatcher.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Answer the question. Should be easy if Starmers Labour is so right wing. Which government of the last 40 years was more left wing?

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Well it’s not yet. But come July 5th. Name a government you think had a more left wing policy agenda at this point.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I don’t buy it. If you’re left wing and the election is on a knife edge and you don’t use your vote for the left wing party, how are you left wing? I’m not taking anyone for granted. I’m not the Labour Party, I’m a private citizen saying what I think the reality is and that I think it’s a lie...

    Flying

I’m pretty chill. Went on a small craft internal flight in the US once where you could see the sky between the cracks and actually enjoyed it. Done a couple of flying lessons as well which was fun. Which is weird because on rollercoasters I’m constantly thinking about mechanical failure. If...

I think you’d vote Labour if it was close and are relying on people like me voting sensibly to allow you a flounce…

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’m ambivalent. I like the idea of making voting more of a “thing”, day off, free pint after, that sort of thing. I generally don’t get too worried about turnout. For me the silent majority of non voters just can’t be bothered which means everything’s fine. All the studies show non voters...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Hahaha. OK insert “some” at your leisure. But I only ever hear of two reasons for non voting “I can’t be arsed” and “I have special political principles that mean none of these parties are to my liking and no I don’t want to start a party and test my beliefs I just want to show how I’m better...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Because they’re in this thread telling me. I’m not whining. Do what you like. And I’ll say what I like about it. Having been around politics quite a bit I’m quite confident in saying spoiling your ballot or not voting has absolutely zero impact on any politicians decision making.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I still can’t get over how bad Sunak’s announcement was. Like it had been scripted by Labour HQ. Just perfect. Already planning how I’ll stay up to watch the result, who is everyone looking forward to seeing lose? Gullis for me. Just the exemplar 2019 Tory.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

The fact is even though those who don’t vote think they’re seen as great rebels against the monilitithic corporate political system, in reality they’re lumped in with people who can’t be arsed and used to justify whatever the winners want. Low turnout is seen as a tacit acceptance of the status...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I do it every few years here. I would absolutely vote for the least worst option in a dictatorship playing faux democracy. I’d also try and get out the country and do what I can legally and socially to fight it, but not voting in that situation just lends more credibility to the winner.
