    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Taking into account the current R number, the reports of the independent SAGE group, the stats for daily deaths, the issues with the track and trace processes, the public trust levels after the Cummings saga and the limited help and guidance for schools and workplaces, it is very hard to believe...

I don’t think it was premeditated just once it was out they can use it as a diversion and make the best of it. They do it all the time. Like I said earlier, with constant incompetence and scandal there is always something else to move onto and they’re never really held to account for...

Yup. The good side of overwhelming incompetence, failure and scandal is that there is always a new fuck up to distract from the last one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Again I’m not saying it was the reason. My original point was that it was one small factor. It’s fine that you want try and distract from it because it makes you uncomfortable and that you want to do the job hundreds of young people are paid to do in Russia for free and trot out various...

Summed odd the other day when they said the R was 0.7 - 1 but were planning to open schools and shops. I’m sure previously, when setting out the road map of steps, the R was the same and they said we can’t do anything yet as we’re too close to 1? (Which also seems obvious). Sent from my iPhone...

We fortunate in that the Mueller report uncovered a lot of the stuff that had been hidden. As you say, we might never see the report over here but that has forced the social media companies to start taking some action at least. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

“You can’t compare countries” etc I remember months ago saying we were on the same curve as Italy, it was derided by some and ignored by many. We followed their curve for weeks then went beyond it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Exactly. The Russian Internet Research Agency was literally creating communities and groups on Facebook and organising physical demonstrations of those communities in the US. To say it had no effect or call it a conspiracy is laughable. A glance at Twitter U.K. political discourse and it’s easy...

    Maitlis

The frustrating thing is she could have framed it slightly differently and it would have been completely water tight. Instead of “the public” it could have been “many people” or “polls suggest”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Clinton was an awful candidate and certainly the largest factor. But there’s no point people burying their head in the sand that social media might have been an influence because it’s awkward and uncomfortable to accept that. Anyway, it wasn’t really the main point in my original post and not...

The use of social media disinformation is widely understood and researched. I won’t drop it because it makes people uncomfortable. In no way was I stating it was the instrumental factor but it certainly may have had an affect. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Had temp checked at work with a thermal camera last week, needs to be done everyday though, IMO. Doing schools will have the resources for that and government advice will be “wash your hands” and hope for the best. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
