Arena dilapidation costs - £12.9m over next 3 years

From Mike Ashley’s POV, you’re not wrong. But from a Wasps POV, losing the CBS has killed any reason for them to remain in Coventry. There really isn’t the interest from the city. After you they went into admin, the Coventry project was dead. Avoiding admin was one of the stated aims of moving...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

It should be implemented how it is in rugby. The referee makes a call on field and refers it up to VAR to check his marking. If a VAR official is proactively recommending a referee looks at the monitor, there’s an ingrained bias in the decision making. Would that incident have been referred...

    Qatar World Cup 2022

Probably goes to show people shouldn’t wet the bed when we lose a few meaningless Nations League games. Iran are a good side and I think they’ll qualify 2nd in the Group if they don’t lose their heads after this loss. Iran drew to Portugal, pushed Spain in a narrow lose and beat Morocco...

Arena dilapidation costs - £12.9m over next 3 years

I can’t see Wasps returning. They have gates of sun £7k and the ground was the reason d’être for moving to Coventry. Day-to-day, the CBS is arguably too big for us, let alone a rugby club.

    Wasps downward spiral...

How many rugby clubs regularly get 10,000 fans every game? It highlights how dumb the Wasps purchase of the CBS was. Even at the time of the purchase, I always wondered what a rugby club would do with a 32k seater stadium.

    Wasps downward spiral...

At 6.5%, the interest is tracking below inflation which wasn’t the case until this year. It’s a tough spot for those investors.

Yet the council ends up selling to another hedge fund and the taxpayer is losing out. So the narrative that the Wasps deal was a good deal is nonsense.

    SISU ready to sell?

Let’s be honest, there aren’t many ‘nice’ rich people/entities in football. Oligarchs with questionable ties to sovereign states/dictators with poor human rights records… or profiteering capitalists. There aren’t many ‘white knights’ knocking about.

    SISU ready to sell?

32k was always going to be too big for a rugby club. 20-23k would be the maximum I imagine. Birmingham would likely be a good shout, it doesn’t involve displacing a major Birmingham team, maybe Moseley? Unlike Cov RFC, they don’t have realistic ambitions to get to the Prem.

    Women's Euros 2022

We’re singing on slightly different hymn sheets here. I agree that the women winning a trophy doesn’t end the years of hurt and the notion of ‘no more years of hurt’ The women’s team hadn’t won anything since 1984 and they had their own brush with pain in 2009. So clearly the sentiment was...

    Women's Euros 2022

The reason ‘Three Lions’ remains popular is because it captures the nations mood around failure and the dreaming of success. I never seen Lineaker, Moore, Gazza or Psycho play football yet the sentiment of the song is just as relevant in 1996 as it is today. For the women’s team, they had...

Football coming home surely applies to women’s team too? They haven’t won a major tournament either!

He’s just had a below par game, it’s not that deep.

He had some good shifts playing deeper, but he has no output to warrant a starting berth as a CAM. When we play two AMs, we can kind of get away with it. Not with one.

There’s that, but just as important in my view, we have nothing coming from either wing back. We’re penned in and have no where to go.

Maybe Eccles isn’t as good as some make out? Whenever I’ve seen him, he’s looked decent but I’ve felt he’s been overhyped a bit.

There’s a lot to like about him but I’m unconvinced with him aerially. Has ducked out/not gone up for 2-3 duals and the balls just gone over him.

Not been impressed with Eccles and we’ve really missed that link between the front two and the midfield. I hope Palmer can manage some game time to make a difference.

It’s probably a joke because Brazilian isn’t a language. Portuguese is the language of Brazil.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I think Labour tried to cost the renationalisation of utilities and the railways and there were holes in it. I voted for that program in 2019 but have since come to the conclusion that public ownership a) probably wouldn’t achieve its goals in delivering better customer experience and prices...
