Match Thread Coventry City at Colchester United Match Thread - Tuesday 13th Feb

2 nil defeat, unless Robins mixes it up a bit. May change my thoughts when I see Tuesday's lineup.

    Meltdown

But then 5 wins out of 15 is not good enough if you have aspirations of a top 3 place and Robins has said promotion is the aim.

    Meltdown

    Harsh, but true.

What needs to be done for Colchester?

We did pretty much only start hoofing it long from the keeper yesterday after half time. It did at least push the Stanley defence back, but it didn't really work at all did it. Biamou and McNulty play too far apart for McNulty to benefit from any knock downs.

    WE are gradually getting worse

I think that boat has sailed. When asked on CWR, Baker said it could be a month, could be a year, he had no idea. Even if it is month he's not going to be match fit for probably another month after that, so you are looking at April. Bit pointless really.

    Meltdown

If you look back recently too, against Swindon Biamou hit a worldly. Probably wouldn't do that again if he had another 30 attempts. There was not any creativity involved. Long punt from the keeper, ball fell to him and he blasted it. Against both Cambridge and Swindon McNulty hit two great...

    Meltdown

I am a very optimistic person on the whole, but what concerns me as much as anything is that all our creativity is pretty much coming through Bayliss of late and earlier in the season it was pretty much all coming through Jodi Jones. Add to that we have lost both Grimmer and Davies for several...

    Throwing the season away

Yep, it was only after the game, but we all knew before the game that a virus had gone round the camp. You don't even need to have an 11 Plus certificate to understand that if we take our top striker off it is most likely because of the virus or because he's injured.

    Throwing the season away

Never thought I would hear myself say this, but yeah, I agree. Only a week ago I wanted him nowhere near our club, but watching what JMD doesn't offer and Barrett not showing anything at all yet either, I think all we have to look to Reid or Shipley.

    Meltdown

And we do keep losing away. Just five wins in 15 away games. We have been overly reliant on our home form and yesterday that all came crashing down. I don't think it's over yet, but it is a big concern that we may well slide now. Stating the bleedin obvious, but Tuesday is crucial.

    Meltdown

I would agree, but that is two defeats and two dreadful performances in a row. Think that does make a difference. One defeat in isolation, yep I agree with you, but two in a row and the manner of those two defeats, where we have looked much more like relegation fodder than promotion candidates...

    Throwing the season away

Yes, but I am talking about the mentality of football fans. There were loads by me moaning like hell when Robins took McNulty off. They must live in a no news, blinkered bubble. Even if Robins had said Bayliss was ill and had played Shipley in his place because he had to, he would still have...

    Throwing the season away

Thing is, Nick, if Robins had rested Bayliss and put Shipley in the centre he would have got hammered for it on here. We still wouldn't have had the creativity and Robins would have been heavily criticised for it.

    Throwing the season away

As I say, when it is going well it usually stays that way under Mowbray. When things start going wrong he struggles to halt the slide. Happened twice at Middlesbrough and once here.

    Throwing the season away

Yep, it's a pattern. Going back to Big Tone, when it worked well it worked beautifully well, but as soon as it went wrong he just couldn't change anything to change our fortunes and kept flogging away with what was then a failed formula. It's clear to all the City fans that we don't create...

    Opposition Forum Thread - Accrington

I agree, but they hardly had to break sweat yesterday. We were powderpuff and offered no threat all day. Don't think their keeper even got his gloves dirty and Accrington can now go home after a very successful light training exercise. If you could describe the City yesterday I would say we...
