    The Run In

I had a similar thought. Watch us lose to Cardiff and get a win against Leeds - typical.

Agreed. We still miss someone with Hamer’s ability to put the ball into space and today there were plenty of opportunities to be more direct to Simms, Wright and even Tavares - we opted for safer passes consistently. We got caught out down the left hand side a lot today. I don’t think that was...

Agreed on being unable to break organised sides down. I’ve been consistent on this point all season, but we struggle to play through midfield at times. Sheaf was guilty of some poor passing today but at least he went for it. My frustration is that we often dawdle on the balls without causing...

    Callum O'Hare

He played well against Huddersfield and Wolves so one disappointing performance doesn’t mean we should drop him. As for COH, did he do much change the game? He also misplaced passes and got tackled on the ball.

It’s a difficult game whether or not COH starts or not. He hasn’t done much to earn a start to be honest.

Agreed - COH has lost his place because he isn’t impacting games like he was in Dec-Jan. Even then, a few of my mates who are neutrals said the same thing: if he isn’t scoring, he generally isn’t playing that well. As for Palmer, overplayed a lot today and as good as he can be, he’s probably...

    Milan van Ewijk Appreciation Thread

He’s one of, if not, our best player. His contributions are underrated at times.

    Transfer targets

Midfield will be an area of focus in the off-season. We’ll have 3 first team CMs (4 if you include Allen) and we extra bodies to get through 50 games. Apparently our option is the P’Boro midfielder, Kyprianou who looks like he’d be a great fit. Then, we need another wide player in to support...

Since we lost to preston 3-2 in november

Well, if our form was better, we probably wouldn’t have fast tracked the change in formation, so no. As it happened, we changed formation mid season and Sakamoto established himself as a top performer. He and Wright were our only wide players so we really needed cover in case of injuries. In...

Since we lost to preston 3-2 in november

Well, the word used was ‘evolution’, so they probably expected McFadz to play longer than he did. He didn’t lose his spot because of individual poor performance, but rather we played better as a team with the new formation. Wide players weren’t our biggest recruitment need in the summer after...

    Recruitment has been shocking

COH does have an annoying habit of slowing play down in the opposition half at times. It’s not always a bad thing but Simms, Wright and even Gyokeres last season looked more threatening when we’re more direct.

    Simms + Wright = ?

We signed them on 4 year contracts, judging them half a season in was always stupid. It’s always the same people who seem to look silly year in, year out.

    Simms + Wright = ?

Gyokeres is playing levels above Simms & Wright but I wouldn’t discount either of the two developing further. Gyokeres got 23 in all competitions last season so let’s just appreciate that Simms & Wright both have 16 with enough to match that tally.

It’s the rule changes that leaves more room for interpretation and therefore, inconsistencies in applying the rules.

    Simms + Wright = ?

I don’t think @shmmeee is much older than me and I wasn’t around in 92. Simms and Wright is the best pair of strikers I’ve seen play for Cov. Gyokeres and Hamer still the best two I’ve seen for City in my relatively short time as a supporter.

    Simms + Wright = ?

Simms and Wright are 3 goals away from surpassing Gyokeres’ monster performance in goal involvements (goals & assists) from last season. It’s an area that we’ve statistically improved which was no easy feat.

    Recruitment has been shocking

Which reads that we recruited to play 3-4-1-2, no? Having read that whole article, Adi did mention that the natural evolution would be to move to 4 at the back. We j It was the same in L1 when we moved from 4-3-3, we had trained and prepared to play 3-4-2-1 in preseason. Which is great...

    Obikwu

Let him develop in L1 next season - first team football is what he needs. If we’re not keeping Godden, we could need 1-2 first team strikers.

I don’t think COH is out of form per se, Palmer is just performing better. Without sounding to critique COH, his goal scoring run was out of the norm for his career (to date). I doubt that he’s downed tools, Palmer is playing better than him atm.
