sisu: 1 week till we hear the truth

Its a very fine balance. The problem you have is we can't operate in a bubble. If other clubs are overspending and we are working to break even how do we ever field a competitive team? We possibly could in L1 if we were back at the Ricoh as we'd have bigger crowds than most other teams but if...

sisu: 1 week till we hear the truth

I think for a large section of the fanbase you are correct, although you'd hope with everything we've been through in the future we'd be wary of overspending. Most football fans don't have an interest in the finances, they want to turn up every week, pay their money and see a team that is...

sisu: 1 week till we hear the truth

I'm not sure that it will be quite the black and white answer people are expecting. For a start we're dealing with the legal technicalities of something here so you could end up with a verdict going one way on a technicality where all the evidence presented indicates that morally, for want of a...

    Football League deadline update

The FL have used clubs GS as leverage before. They did it with Leeds when they were threatening legal action, not pursuing the action was a condition of their GS being issued for the following season. They also did it with Portsmouth. They told the administrator they would only consider...

    Football League deadline update

If they are disputing that they have to pay £590K they could have placed that amount (the maximum they would have to pay) in escrow so that the FL knows it is there whilst they come to an agreement over the exact amount. I would be a lot more comfortable with the situation if the club confirmed...

    Football League deadline update

If you remove the emotion with it being our club and look at it objectively you would say the most logical course of action would be expulsion. In simple terms Otium were granted the golden share on condition they make a payment of £590K to ACL. The deadline for that payment has now passed...

    Football League deadline update

Don't see why it would be difficult. The FL told Otium they would issue them the Golden Share on the condition that they paid ACL £590K by the end of this month. It appears they haven't done so and have therefore breached the conditions set by the FL. Having done that why would it be difficult...

    Football League deadline update

These are the two key points for me. If Appleton has missed something, either a payment made or liability for a debt, then that is his fault and it will be him SISU need to go after if they have a complaint. The FL payment is not rent, they may have arrived at the figure based off the proposed...

    Murphy departure draws nearer

One or two players complaint about how their contract renewals were handled can be put down to sour grapes but the number of times this happens to us indicates something isn't being done correctly. Didn't TF or ML recently admit it was the club at fault over the King renewal? Don't see why...

Rent Money owed to ACL rumour

Correct, parts of Fratton Park are closed for H&S reasons. They are paying in the region of £400K a year in maintenance to get the rest of the ground through H&S. It's a point that a lot of people miss, owning the stadium doesn't mean you're not paying out money every year.

Rent Money owed to ACL rumour

If he didn't I think SISU will be having a word with him!

Rent Money owed to ACL rumour

£590K I would think. In any case the payment the FL isn't strictly speaking the rent is it? Just happens that they stated a payment must be made that is the same amount as in the CVA.

Rent Money owed to ACL rumour

Appleton would, or at least should, have known the balance of what was owned to ACL and made the CVA offer accordingly so I can't see this impacting on what is owed by the end of the month.

    Please Take Us Home!

Its not surprising there is confusion, people have come back from other meetings reporting that going back to the Ricoh is plan A! This is why I think they need to make a clear statement about what they want. Its great that they're meeting fans but if people are coming away with different ideas...

Isn't that Clarke sat a couple of seats down? Thought he'd left.

    Fans Forum

It's probably something really obvious but what is the CTK? Did anything get discussed regarding the financing of the new ground and how they will actually achieve a return for their investors?

Rent Money owed to ACL rumour

Been there done that. You soon get fed up of people moaning about the price of beer when you're only getting to keep 30% or less of the cost and have to pay thousands a week in rent!!!

Rent Money owed to ACL rumour

Didn't someone on here speak to the FL for their uni project and get told the majority of clubs didn't own their ground. Sure I haven't imagined that! In my opinion ownership of the ground is pretty much irrelevant, it's who gets the revenue. Also people talk about ground ownership as if there...

    Season Ticket Update

Exactly, at no point do the FL have to say you must deal with ACL or you have to play at the Ricoh. All it needs is for them to say Coventry City have to play in Coventry. As for the effect of no season tickets being sold while I doubt it would have a direct effect I can't imagine that us...
