It's happened with a few players I can recall and they've ended up with surgery. Perhaps some players recover from the initial injury and dont need surgery but others do. That's just my guesswork, there are actual physios on here who knows far more than me.

As good as. But how much of the season is he going to miss with it anyway? Get it done now and he gets a full preseason. Leave it until summer and he'll get a few games here and there and he'll miss preseason training all together.
