That’s not the same thing as not being better off. If prices are 10% higher and my take home pay is 11% higher I’m richer even if I don’t feel it. The problem is inflation IMO. People blame the government for prices but themselves for wages.

Owners usually take a back seat regarding football and appoint a manager to handle that for them.

But we won’t sack the scouting team either? As I say if something’s been working for seven years and you change almost all of it, why would the first place you look be the bit you haven’t changed and not all the new stuff?

Most owners delegate these decisions to a manager.

Why not the coaches? Why not the person responsible for player performance? If these things ultimately fall onto the manager then how is this system different from the normal manager at the top making decisions? Other than the fact you’re tying the managers hands to an extent.

Right so Doug is effectively a manager who can’t be sacked.
