    Allen Injured

Palmer forced a move, it was out of the clubs hands. We’ll have to make do until Jan-Feb - it’s not that big a deal.

    Allen Injured

Players will have to play through some fatigue throughout the stadium. Football is a contact sport and injuries are part and parcel of the game, unfortunately. It’s unlikely that Allen’s contract gets renewed past this season. He’s been a good servant but his injury record is getting worse and...

    Allen Injured

Agreed, the money was fronted and the deal was ready to be signed. If anything, it’s the recruitment team for failing to identify on targets that MR would sign off on.

    Allen Injured

I remember the days in preseason when Allen, Eccles, Torp and Sheaf was enough depth… Going into match 10 and we’re down to Eccles and Torp only. It was always a risk given Allen, Torp (last season) and Sheaf’s injury records. In fact, Allen probably has a worse injury record than Sheaf.

Match Thread Leeds United - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 28th Sep

Logically, we’ll struggle but think we’ll somehow pick up a point or 3 this weekend. Either way, it’ll be an early start and on the sauce early doors and I’m looking forward to it!

Transfer Rumour Raphael Borges Rodriguez signs for Coventry

What does ‘fitness’ mean specifically here… does it mean he’s unfit because he’s lazy and not kept in shape, or does it mean his body is struggling to adapt to a change in regime following an injury. From MR’s comments, unless what he’s said is completely fabricated, it’s the player needs to be...

    Counter Attack

Simms is still our best striker and like last season, there’s a lack of good chances for him. Basette is 19 and is energetic and raw but he is a longer term project and probably does not have the skill or consistency to start regularly in a Championship campaign.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I’ll be honest, I haven’t been paying close attention to your mood on the new government. There is no cast iron economic laws because if there was there’d be no need for politics. Keynesians believe that increasing aggregate demand won’t cause inflation, monetarists believe the exact opposite...

It sounds like you’ve got some buyers remorse Ian?

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It’s ok to disagree but to deride anything you don’t like as ‘myths’ and ‘right wing’ is just not discussing a topic in good faith. I’ve not said that increases in public spending will definitely always cause inflation. These things are contextual and 2010 to 2024 was characterised by a...

Spending as a % of GDP is not the same thing as debt:GDP ratio.

So it doesn’t have infinite funds then. Inflation, economic confidence, debt burden are all limitations and you know this. One of the many reasons our inflation is stickier than our counterparts is our public spending and debt.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Noted, but you more or less make the same argument for many issues and the costs tally up. You either accept there’s a limit to public spending or not. £110bn in servicing debt and that will only increase with an increased deficit fueled by borrowing. The NHS budget, just to contrast, was...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

In isolation, no of course not. That wasn’t the point and you know full well it wasn’t. It is clear that you don’t really see a limit to government spending so every issue be it the NHS, public sector pay rises, pensions, winter fuel allowance, education, free school meals can be done away with...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

This is day to day government spending. Around 7 countries (8 including UK) have a GDP to debt ratio above 100%. This impacts the cost of borrowing money so all of these spending commitments come with a hidden cost of servicing debt. For context, in 2023 the Government spent £110bn on servicing...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Government debt is just as large as GDP which is a trend that just can’t continue to keep growing.

To those who want Robins gone now

Only Millwall (14) have missed more ‘big chances’ than us (13) and we’ve only converted 2. As soon as this picks up we’re going to be ok.

    Kitching vs Binks

Kitching did start the season suspended and his form dropped off toward the end of last season and Binks did deserve a run in the team.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

An excuse for Rachel Reeves? Nah, it’s worse than that. In terms of the economy, she is about as establishment as you can get (literally an ex-banker) and won’t really challenge the orthodoxy at the treasury (I.e. higher public spending and increasingly higher or new taxes) or have any original...
