The ghost of O’Hare finally laid to rest?

Trying not to be too revisionist. O’Hare was unbelievable for us. They are very different. Cal had an intensity and that ability to create something out of nothing. Rudoni is more consistent, and he’s technically far better. Rudoni has the ingredients for top level football, he’s 6’1”...

Spotting fellow Cov fans in the wild

Not quite of the theme but I once bumped into Richard Wood in Leeds on the Monday lunchtime following his last minute own goal for Rotherham against us (around 2014). Needless to say I was an arse and mentioned this to him (“once a sky blue. Etc.”) He had the good grace to laugh and was...

    Ellis simms

I think the difference of late is that he doesn’t have to score to play well. He used to be anonymous in games, now he’s minimum a handful for their defence.

    Ellis simms

He was superb yesterday. Thought he dominated his duels with their CB, and gave us a real outlet. 2 goals without much being created for him, and unlucky with the one ruled out.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

To win the play offs, we need to play better than we did yesterday and midweek.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

I do think a lot depends on Sheaf and Wright. When on form, they’re our two best players. If they can raise the levels, then we’ve got a good chance.

    Transfer Rumour Matt Grimes

Do find Swansea fans unanimous verdict on him leaving a bit concerning. He’s exactly what we need and evidently a good player, but we ought to temper expectations a bit.

    More xG Stuff

xG gets a hard time, but it’s a valuable piece of data. 1. It measures more than just the outcome (the goal). A goal can be caused by a wonder strike or a goalkeeper error, whereas this indicates how well a team creates and gives up chances. 2. There’s a lot of data - by this stage of the...

    Transfer Rumour January transfer window

Lati is miles off it for me. Good pedigree but makes lots of mistakes and physically isn’t up to it.

Transfer Rumour Van Ewijk to Galatasaray

Bidwell? Haha I get what you’re saying but we’re playing a different strategy. Ultimately if this current squad doesn’t improve dramatically this season we have to cash our chips in on 2 or 3 of them. You then have to reinvest and go again. What is disappointing is how many poor signings we...

Transfer Rumour Van Ewijk to Galatasaray

Surely it’s all just dependent on price. If we can get £8-10m, then we’ll surely sell. Good player, but we need to start recouping some of our outlay. Wright and Sheaf could well go in the summer too, and we’re facing a rebuild again. No bad thing, but have to get it right this time.

    Frank Lampard Rumours

Don’t blame Lampard for wanting to bring his coaches with him. Fairly common practice and if he wants to give himself the best chance of success he’ll want people around him he knows and trusts.

    Mark Robins managing another team

He’ll manage again. Could get a pretty lucrative deal, given his rep.

    Is Anyone Else Feeling....

Football generally is quite depressing right now. Bad start for us, although I’m hopeful we’ll be absolutely fine. It’s a big come down from post Everton friendly though England, despite having on paper the best side in Europe, played like they barely knew each other (yes I know we made the...

Match Thread Stoke away 10th August 12:30 - Opening day!

Allen not up to standard, as I think we all know. Torp has to do a lot more.

    The Kase(y) for Palmer

Personally I’d keep Palmer if he’s happy with a squad role. He’s a bit of a flat track bully IMO. However against 8-9 of the teams in this division that could be very useful. Huddersfield away last season a great example. He was absolutely superb.

    Loanees

Could be a good option in January, depending on where we are in the league.
