Match Thread Coventry City vs Grimsby Town Match Thread - Saturday 24th Mar

I would agree with most of this and would certainly start with JCH. Biamou, in my opinion, doesn’t deserve the abuse he gets from a blinkered few on here.

I felt he was nervous and hesitant with kicking no better than that of Burge in the first two games. Two howlers that cost points in the next two games. I saw him at Walsall in the Checkatrade where he might have done better with their late equaliser. Against Stoke I felt he was all over the...

Neither. Just like to be fair and give players credit when they play well. Off the top of my head today Biamou: flicked the ball on with his head ( a directed header which you say he can’t do) that put Reid away. He played McNulty in for his disallowed fourth goal and he used Mc Nulty as a...

I’ve not been impressed by O’Brien at all this season until the Crewe game. Made mistakes in every other performance. I think Haynes, Burge and a few others will never get any credit when they do play well as opinion on them is set and cannot be changed. Haynes wasn’t great today but did but in...

You’re wrong, he is a good footballer at this level ( as he proved again today), just not a good goal scorer. You are the chap who said he should never play for the team again before saying “how pleased for the lad” you were when he scored at MK a week later. You have also been calling for...

    Favourite ever goal?

That was a great start to that season. First two games were at home (as was the tradition then, first two games either home or away). The first game we beat Tottenham 1-0, second game Hutch’s goal beat Liverpool. What a good exciting team we had back then; Stein, Carr, Mortimer, Alderson, Ernie...

    Favourite ever goal?

Dean Nelson ( think that’s his name) the chap with all the City videos, had an event at Fargos a couple of years ago showing some of his films of City games. Hutch’s goal at Arsenal was one of the clips he had. At the end of the session I asked him about the clip and he said that one of the ITV...

    Favourite ever goal?

Graham Westley was their manager for that game. I remember the ball rolling out of play towards him, he shaped to trap it and then lifted his foot so it could roll away. Preston at that time reflected the manager. I hate time wasting (from us as well) and Preston in that game took it to a new...

    Favourite ever goal?

Two of my sons were mascots at that game.

    Should Mark Robins be sacked?

I don’t like games like this as every bad run has to come to an end sometime. They will beat someone before the end of the season. We need to make sure it isn’t us.

Trust open meeting - 14th March, 7:30, Ricoh

As they are still putting money into the club (losing money), it makes their decision not to negotiate on the sale of the club even odder. It also does seem to indicate that the legal action is their only strategy for holding on to the club.

    Youth players signing new deals

Didn’t the clubs agree a fee for GT? Didn’t think it went to tribunal so therefore maybe got a bit more.

Trust open meeting - 14th March, 7:30, Ricoh

The main thing I took from the meeting last night was that Boddy, if he was being honest, has nothing to do with anything outside of the remit of CCFC, doesn’t seem to have a foot in the Sisu camp in the way that Fisher does. That said he is still a Sisu appointee and tows the party line in a...

    Ken Dodd.... rip

This was a few years before my time. However I have read about him coming onto the pitch at Highfield Road before that game. He took his coat off to reveal he was wearing a City shirt which obviously brought cheers from the City fans and boos from United. He then peeled off the City shirt to...

The problem is that performances do matter. The games against Forest Green, Colchester, Wycombe and Barnet have all been “toss of a coin games”, games that could have gone either way, with two going against us and two for. We need to be better than other teams, not just the same as they are. If...

Held the ball up well, won headers, brought others into play. All the things he has done well for most of the season.

We certainly looked more of a threat when he came on at Wycombe. He did more in his few minutes on the pitch than JCH did in the rest of the game. I am not having a go at JCH but I would like to see more impact on games as well as his goals.

Player of the season so far

I agree with a choice of Doyle or McNulty but, while not saying he is the POTS, I disagree about Willis as I think he has been pretty consistent all season and would say he is the best of our 4 centre halfs, possibly followed by Davis.

Performances have been no better than the loss at Forest Green. Arguably we played better than we have in the last few games at Colchester and lost. (The performance against Accrington was the worst of the season in my opinion as we didn’t even compete). I think we have battled in the last...
