    Yes I’m aware of that.

If you look at the graph it sort of is. It was starting to plateau prior to 2016 before starting to rise again for some reason.

A 50-fold increase in food banks in ten years in any country looks shit and in any normal society would be inexcusable. No one is saying it is exclusive to Britain. Still not sure what point you’re making.

Murder is a problem all around the world. Maybe we should be more accepting of murder too. Really not sure what the point you’re making is. I’m not comparing us to the rest of the world I’m comparing us to us 10-15 years ago and it’s a grotesque stat and a severe measurement of failure.

The only way this could improve is if they alternated the columns red, white and blue. God save the queen. #uplifting

The use of food banks has gone up 50-fold under the Tories. There’s a statistic you can be proud of.

Yeah tariffs have only been sold as a barrier to trade while protectionism is bad. If we do sign a free trade deal it will be interesting to see how it stacks up against the FTA the EU and Australia have been negotiating. I would be seriously surprised if they sell the farmers down the road like...

That’s probably more to do with shipping costs than anything else. The cost to ship a standard 20 or 40ft container around the world has almost doubled over the last 6 months. I would think that stacks up too for specialists refrigerated containers coming from the other side of the world.

I think it’s more to do with scale of production than anything else. They can produce it in vast quantities because of the amount of land available. Brazil is even bigger, 2nd only to the US and that’s the other big target for a free trade deal.

Listen. Food banks are uplifting. Man of the people Jacob Rees-Mogg said so and if anyone understands struggle it’s JRM.

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

I’m thinking that we’ve probably reached that point where we open it up to everyone over 16. Those in the vulnerable groups have probably had at least one jab now and we’re already at the age groups where age isn’t really a factor. The only reason I can’t see for doing it is the availability of...

I heard a guy on the radio talking about the possibility of this happening last year sometime. He was an industry expert who was warning of the possibility prior to the referendum. Still, we’ve had enough of experts.

We had the same. A big part was that most commodities are traded in $USD so when converted back into £GBP currency fluctuations can really hurt. Currency always fluctuates so there’s always risk but in my working life I’ve never witnessed such a big hit in a 24 hour period and then no recovery...

As long as you don’t mind buying it from the other side of the world at the expense of local producers.

Currently beef from Australia is subject to 20% tariffs so British farmers can compete against it. Take that 20% away and British farmers can’t compete. It’s as simple as that.

Let’s take the fishing industry. Didn’t regain control of our waters as promised. Lost access to market. Lost access to waters as roll over deals with Iceland, Norway and The Faroe Isles couldn’t be agreed meaning that almost the entire U.K. deep sea fleet has been sat in dock all year. 3...

You’re probably right but it was advertised as “There will be no downside to Brexit, only a considerable upside”. We’ve seen dozens of downsides in the first five months on top the downsides seen since the vote. We’re yet to see an upside in the same period.

TBF I’m not surprised that no one on a football forum can tell us what the tangible benefits are. The government can’t either, they’ve had to hire someone external to find them after IDS failed from within the government.

From the vote until the start of the transition period the economic cost to the U.K. economy was £1.3billion. So that’s 3 and a half years worth of measuring.

That Vauxhall van factory in Luton stayed the same too. Brexit bonus, something else didn’t change.
