Yeah Dutch a is sort of half way. The vowel sounds are weird and hard at first for an English speaker IMO. I’d accept (Ay-Vak) from the comms at least. Just not You-Wick or whatever.
it’s hard cos we don’t have some of the sounds like the W and IJ sounds but the following is a direct quote from a native Dutch speaker:

(“This is wrong because you don’t have an equivalent sound for the “ai” sound”)
