People are playing favourites on the forum. Why this thread has blown up after a 3-1 loss perplexes me. We lost because we defended really poorly so throwing strays at a striker is just v odd. If he’d missed 2-3 big chances, it’d make sense. Simms still got flak when his MPG was 200 so it’s...

    Positive

How? If that happened we’d be equal on points on the final day so a 1-0 win would suffice.

Ok smartarse. Even if we lose to Luton and Boro win, we go into the final day 7th on GD where a win against Boro ensures we finish above them on points. So yes, Boro is, and always been, the ‘must-win’ fixture.

It’s not bollocks at all. We’re 3 points ahead of Boro so they can overtake us on GD ahead of May 3rd. A draw v Luton ensures we start the final day in 6th and Boro need to beat us. If we beat them, we overtake them. GD will not matter.

    Brad Collins

Wilson has also been a poor shot stopper since his golden glove winning year. Both keepers are unreliable. If it wasn’t for a freak ACL injury, neither player would be near the starting lineup. Given Dovin’s injury, we will almost definitely sign another GK in the summer.

Of course. There’s an unhealthy obsession on this board to nominate a scapegoat at every opportunity. MVE is one of our best players and I’m a big fan, but yesterday was possibly his worse performance for us since he joined and was a liability yesterday. Every single goal that’s conceded will...

Disagree, it’s clear he’s being asked to perform a specific role and Jimmy87 has mentioned he’s playing with an injury. The scrutiny should be with Haji who’s missed two massive chances in the last 2 away games. I’m struggling to see why he’s got a free pass here.

Is it not worrying that he’s still not favoured then? Collins should’ve saved the second goal and done better for the 3rd but to be frank, MVE had a nightmare in both scenarios that lead to those goals.

Really? I’d have thought one of the group players who left the goal scorer unmarked in the box were culpable.

We’re in a strong position because we play the most important fixture are home against Boro. Even a draw v Luton guarantees we’re 6th on the final day. Leeds should beat Bristol so again, we’re looking decent value for 5th too.

    Biamou or Simms

Congratulations on the people voting for Biamou outing themselves as idiots.

He did last season so does that count for nothing in your view? He’s still a young player and has 2 years on his contract, give him time.

Hopefully Birmingham come and spend over the odds for Bidwell… 😂

One thing is unarguable, the results are better when he plays.

Birmingham will get exposed next season imo because they have spent massively on decent Championship players. It’s pretty common for teams to get 95-100 points in L1 and struggle in the championship. People have said we overspent on Rudoni and frankly, it looks like great value and wouldn’t...

That’s not the point I was responding to. People trotted out the ‘how many games has he scored in’ argument before I and others pointed out that Simms scored more goals from open play and in more games than Haji last season. Haji also missed more ‘big chances’ which has been the case this...

I don’t think we’ve overpaid for either player because the market is just that inflated. Birmingham spent £15m on Jay Stansfield who scored less goals than both our strikers last season. As you say, if £10m for Cannon is the going rate, we’ve done alright.

Yes, but did Wright miss a gilt edge opportunity to bring us back in the game? He also missed a big chance against Hull at 0-0. Ironically, last season Simms scored more open play goals and in more games than Wright (excluding penalties). I’m confident Simms will regain form.

I can’t put my finger on it exactly, but we look a better team with Simms playing even if he hasn’t been great individually. He does occupy defenders better than Haji and that creates space for players like Rudoni, Wright and Paterson (see Pompey winner). It’s good to know he’s doing what the...

It’s just the same things being rehashed on new threads. Dovin is injured and Wilson is either not fit enough or good enough to be behind Collins in the pecking order. There’s nothing we can do about the situation until we can sign a keeper in the summer. I’m more interested in how tactically...
