Most school leavers do not need to go to uni. 35-50% is just too much. I can I’m talking to people who went to uni after me when fees were 3k per year rather than 9k because you’re probably going to pay off your student loan, I’m not. As things stand there is set to be a generation of...

Nursing jobs used to be predominantly apprenticeship-style roles... In fact, the degrees are effectively ‘degree-apprenticeships’ where the students take on the costs of training. That is actually perverse in my view. Then, to add insult to injury, they are taxed 9% on whatever income they get...

Firstly, sorry to hear about your circumstances! Wishing you well and that you’re on the mend! The OBR reckons we’re spending £100bn on sickness benefits alone. This think tank has done some numbers, there’s UC, highest rate of PIP and housing benefit wrapped up there. Also talks about...

The treasury is perfectly happy with that state of affairs. It cuts trainee roles so we’re not developing as many ‘home grown’ doctors because why not hire cheap labour? An issue of that is not all doctors are respected worldwide.

The fundamental problem with healthcare professionals is that the NHS is by far the largest employer. So doctors and nurses get stuck at the same hospitals on low wages. If I decide my job underpays me, I can look elsewhere for similar jobs. The choice for a UK healthcare professional is...

I’m personally of the view that nurses should be an apprentice course rather than a degree course. The ‘degree-ification’ of the workforce isn’t necessarily a good thing either. After £2k p/m, the workers are de facto taxed an extra 9% too. It was a New Labour policy that was well intentioned...

You can’t have your cake and eat it. Either accept the salary is going to be lower until retirement or be willing to potentially opt out of that to get paid more month-to-month. The way you and others talk about this is as if there is an endless money tree. How does this all get paid for...

    1. It will increase inflation as the costs to businesses will increase costs associated with manufacturing/providing services. It’s not necessarily good for workers either if business cut staff/hours and increase automation. Just as the employer NI hike is doing. Most people on minimum wages...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It’s all well and good focusing on the pay packet at the end of the month but the public sector pensions are a lot more generous than the private sector, frankly. So a sensible reform would be to reduce the pension contributions and put more money directly into the staff’s pocket. I actually...

For minimum wage work, you can literally get more living on benefits after tax. A minimum wage worker would be on about £22.5k after tax whereas UC with housing benefit and PIP would be £25k. Credit: Centre for Social Justice (CSJ). Faced with that decision, who wouldn’t live off the state...

Looks like MVE has a new agent… [emoji848]

He still has 2 years left on his contract. It’s probably not because he wants an improved contract. We’ve signed KKH and MVE has a new agent after a lot of speculation last window. He’s gearing up for a move away and people should see it for what it is. L

Best TV shows or movies you can recommend

The plot was a bit stupid imo. The 2nd series was good but felt the 3rd series struggled to tie up the story because the plot fragmented from a single protagonist. We knew if he didn’t do ‘x’, then ‘y’ was going to happen. There was an interesting twist but even then that didn’t make too much...

    Loyalty Points Issue

It should be relatively stable because it’s capped at 3 seasons. Not many people will go into the season above 2000+ points. Oxford, for example, will probably get to 1400+ this time.

Transfer Rumour 25/26 Summer Transfer Window

His season last year was arguably better than MVE’s and is generally a stronger defender. It’s worth noting that PNE conceded less goals than us and lost fewer games. The reason they finished 20th because they were absolute draw merchants.

    Loyalty Points Issue

230 + points accumulated for away tickets and cup games. If anything, given you go to most games, I’d try to keep that on DL. I can’t recall doing 5 away games in 21/22 so may ask the club for a breakdown.

    Transfer Rumour Tyrhys Dolan

Had McNulty stayed and had a good season, the question marks over whether or not he can make the jump up to Championship level would’ve been alleviated. Huge jump up for him, didn’t get any minutes and barring one good loan spell at Hibs, his career tailed off since leaving us. We definitely...
