Don’t know if anyone saw Mick Lynch on C4 news earlier but he made the very good point that the Tories have spent the last 12 years making it more and more difficult to call an official strike and despite that the union voted overwhelmingly for the strike action (over 80% I think) and nearly 75%...

Think it was £8B in covid bailouts alone. So the UK taxpayer’s basically bailed out rail companies owned by EU government’s meaning they still made profit. In stark contrast private rail companies in the EU widely made losses. Another case of socialism not being for the plebs.

Especially when you consider the billions of public money that’s been spent bailing them out over the years.

Just listening on the radio and apparently the effects of the strike have been dissipated because the country is now used to WFH so it’s not going to be as damaging for the country as Tories are trying to scare everyone into believing that it will be. WFH to the rescue again.

The #cheerskier that the Tories have tried to get trending on social media blaming Starmer for the strikes is spectacularly backfiring too People are running with it and the only thing that Starmer isn’t getting blamed for is the strikes. Stubbed toes, lost keys, the weather etc etc all...

They’ve also cancelled over £7B in defence spending since coming into power meaning that the armed forces is now smaller than its been in centuries. I think you have to go back to the 1700’s. Further cuts in numbers are still planned also.

They did. It costs the treasury about £4B a year, every year. Which IIRC is about double the budget cut that Network Rail are having imposed on them by the same treasury. Socialism is for the elites, not the plebs.

As far as I understand it Steve the strike is about what’s happening with Network Rail which is owned by the government. They’ve cut their funding (which in itself is moronic as Network Rail is the thing that keeps the British rail system classed as one of the best in the world, basically it’s...

The Mails “Builders are all turning WOKE because they have feelings” headline designed at driving the phoney culture war is backfiring. They’ve pissed the construction industry, industry bodies, charities linked to the construction industry and charities such as Samaritans off. Turns out the...

So the government’s position is they can’t justify a wage rise for rail workers because it will be a driver of inflation. Meanwhile in unrelated other news the government is said to be seriously considering scrapping the bonus cap for bankers. This must be one of those Brexit benefits that we...
