I looked at my calendar and I am surprisingly free for the whole thing.

Agree. Just got to get past Colombia first though.

I am too. Think it is going to be tough and I don't like teams that run at us with pace. Depends how Colombia set out their stall.

We are capable of beating both. We are also well capable of losing to both too.

Exactly and I would have fancied us against anyone to be honest. This second 11 though, not against anyone. We still don't know how the draw will pan out and it could well be that Mexico beat Brazil. Entirely feasible. But you're right. I am happy to be see us maybe coming up against Sweden...

Okay. Cheers. Never heard of him, but will give him a listen. :)

Yeah. Belgium can be happy they have very decent backups. Us? Not nearly good enough (Jones, Dier, Vardy).

Would still irk me. Never want the City to lose and never want England to lose. :) And if we win the thing the hard route, having to beat Brazil and France and /or Croatia it would be all the more pleasing for sure. We could look back and say we beat all the best teams in the world. Winning...

Even if we win the bloomin thing I still could never be happy with that defeat.

This is England. I can easily see us now struggling against Colombia.

Well I am never, ever happy with a defeat and it's our first defeat in a year isn't it? Find it all rather deflating. We lost, we didn't play well and we looked a bit lost and clueless. I can never, ever be happy after a defeat.

That performance tonight concerns me. Clearly second best and first half it appeared that Belgium wanted to grab that second spot rather than us.

    The World Cup Thread

And Belgium didn't play their second team? We looked very much second best and a bit clueless tonight. And this path we are now on means it is likely we will face Spain doesn't it? Not making too much of it, but I wanted a decent performance from the team tonight and we didn't get it and...

For me we should not have been looking at the path AFTER the Colombia match. Very dangerous thing to do. Going to look like right old mugs if we now lose to Colombia. This better pay off for us, because we were second best for long periods tonight.

Me too. Felt I had far too much money and stuck a shed load on all sorts of goalscorers and permutations.

A very dangerous team at times, Colombia. We shouldn't have been looking at the path AFTER the Colombia match.

Geez!!!! Welbeck. Rose and at times Loftus-Cheek have done well. As for Eric Dier, he is simply not coming forwards. At one point there was acres of space and I think it was Delph who played him a very simple ball into that space and Dier never even attempted to go for it at first. Poor.

Some of our final balls have been truly dreadful. Very, very disappointing and we can't just assume we will beat Colombia. Japan is clearly the easier of the two fixtures on paper.

For all his decent play, Trent-Arnold's crossing has been rather poor.

That was a bad miss. It looked like it was going wide anyway without the keeper's hand to it. How could he not hit the target there?
