Yep. We should have had Henderson on Modric and then maybe played someone alongside of him. That would have meant a change of system though and that was something Southgate just wouldn't have done I don't think.

Can I just ask, on the Golden Boot, does the 3rd-4th place play off get included or not?

Agreed. For me, Vardy is nowhere near being able to compete at international level and we most certainly don't play the way Leicester play either. Give Welbeck a go.

Which is the way he more often than not used to play for England. Kane was doing it tonight too. What's the point having Kane and Sterling playing the ball forwards from their own half to a Kane and Sterling that aren't there on the end of it?

There would be a queue to see the doctor, all with broken penises.

Yup. I was one of them. Have to give him more time now. Really nice to see an England team trying at least to express themselves and play with a bit of freedom.

No, agree. Just think tonight he didn't play well. Not sure if it was the instruction (guessing it was), but he hardly got near Modric all night. Hat a great little player he is. Think Croatia wouldn't be half the team without him.

I thought Sterling started off really brightly tonight, but he did fade rather quickly.

Agree. Alexander-Arnold will play for sure. Might as well give Rashford a full 90 minutes and play Rose instead of Young. May well see Dier in for Henderson too. Personally I wouldn't play Vardy, I don't think he suits our system and would be inclined to maybe give Welbeck a run out.

    Thought Henderson was poor tonight.

We did. We looked well in control. Second half I just don't know what we were trying to do exactly and in the end we seemed to just have Pickford try and punt it downfield hoping Kane would get a flick on.

Trippier too. Young's delivery has been good, but otherwise I have not been enamoured. Rose is much the better player in that position. In saying that though, I don't think Rose was that great when he came on.

Wouldn't say Lingard's was a sitter, but no idea how he didn't even hit the target. Was much easier to hit the target than miss.

Will probably be the same degree of energy and effort and application too. Can't say I am looking forward to it, but will still watch.

Our 'fullbacks' suddenly became anonymous, especially Young, who was far too deep and they just kept coming down the flanks.

He has not been the Harry Kane we know. Usually he is having lots of shots and lots of long range efforts too where he cuts inside, but we just haven't really been seeing that. Thought he was excellent against Sweden, but then that was in a rather odd deep midfield role.

Why? I have never said Croatia are a poor side. Feel free to go and quote the quote I never made though. All I have said is that pundits have been saying what a poor side they are.

I'm more concerned about just how easily we were beaten in the end. Hands down Croatia were far the better side from the second half on. We played like minnows and far too within ourselves. Seemed to be holding on for the most part, even though Croatia didn't really threaten that much.
