    Of Mice and Men

Think it got re floated not that long ago. Fits in well with though with your point about using Nazi literature in the classroom as a teaching aid. Banning foreign literature is straight out of the Nazi playbook.

    Of Mice and Men

That’s fair enough. The key point there I guess is that it isn’t being used to promote Nazi ideology. You have to allow for the context of how it’s being used in education too, not just the context of the literature. The reaction from the right on this could be interesting. I recall there being...

    Of Mice and Men

Depends what you mean by censor though. A warning that on the cover that the book contains outdated views I would think in most cases would be enough. Unless the purpose of the book is specifically to promote white supremacy then maybe further discussions would be required but then again I doubt...

    Of Mice and Men

I’m not saying anything should be banned. The opposite if anything I’ve read to Kill a Mockingbird several times although not for a while but my memory is that the context of the book is that racism is bad. Have to be honest I’ve never read Of Mice and Men or seen the film so can’t comment on...

    Of Mice and Men

On one hand I have white privilege so I have no real idea or understanding what it feels like to be a person of colour or a minority that faces discrimination so I don’t feel I have either the experience or authority to tell people who do face discrimination how they should feel about it even...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It’s not irrelevant in context to the post I was replying to. “these centrist arseholes apply a different set of rules to themselves than everybody else”. Someone who nominated Corbyn for leader can hardly be described as a centrist. I agree with the rest of your post though.

He was one of 36 MP’s who nominated him for leadership in 2015. He may have fell out with him later but that doesn’t make him a centrist. He’s on the left of the party.

The Boris cult are proper losing the plot. Threatening to trigger by elections if they don’t get their way. How very democratic of them, blackmail and tantrums.

He’s in such a position of weakness. He can’t sack her as he needs too because he’ll lose the lunatics in the party and the sensible fringe is so small he probably can’t see the summer out. He’s completely hamstrung. If he sacks her he’ll be facing a vote of no confidence and he knows it. Which...

    Spirits for Lightweights

Got ill on that once and every time I barfed it was all I could taste. Still can’t drink it almost 30 years later, even the thought… yuk.

    Spirits for Lightweights

More a cocktail than a spirit but I’ve always found Black Russians very easy to drink. Especially when, like you point out, fill up on beer. Back in the day when I used to live for Saturday nights I used to drink lager in the pub and switch to Black Russians in the club.
