Just heard on the radio that Hamas has offered to return all the hostages if Israel agrees to stop the bombing. Israel has vowed to keep on bombing. You would have thought that securing the return of the hostages would have been Israel’s number one priority.
Said from the start it doesn’t add up. If only because no Hamas rocket has ever caused that scale of damage in Israel. Even if you want to dismiss the Hamas body count the destruction on the ground is far more widespread than the couple of cars at best we see damaged in Israel from Hamas rockets.
I do keep wondering if this is why Egypt won’t open the borders to refugees. If the people of North Gaza leave Gaza altogether it makes life easier for Isreal to occupy the North of Gaza as it will be a ghost town.
Was lucky enough to meet Bobby once. He was doing some after dinner speaking I was lucky enough to be invited too. Was a nice guy, spoke personally with everyone there and gave everyone loads of time. RIP, a legend in every sense of the word.
Neither is good, no. Doesn’t mean I’m going to lump you or anyone else in with Kieren though. Even if you won’t publicly admit that you agree with him ;)
For the record as someone from a family who has several family members who’s been the victim of IRA terrorism including attempted loss of life I will never back a terrorist organisation. Doesn’t mean I don’t have sympathy for catholics though who have been a victim of discrimination from the...
What else is there to compare it too? And isn’t that exactly what you’re doing getting excited over the record swing?
The point is it’s very easy to get carried away going by the swing in isolation. There’s more data than that and it paints a don’t be complacent picture. Taking by-election...
Which flatters to deceive. Look at Dorries old seat. Labour gained 156 votes. If the Tories hadn’t lost 26,000 votes no way Labour would have won. Turnout was about 44%, not sure what it was in that seat in 2019 but I recon Labour will struggle to hold it at the next GE even if turnout goes up a...
As far as the economic cycle is concerned the Tories clearly aren’t capable of changing the cycle so it’s hard to see how Labour can’t take control and not generate some new management bounce, unless there’s another shock around the corner like WW3. I personally can’t help but feel that just the...
Hard to tell from the latest by-elections because turnout wasn’t great but Labour didn’t gain a fat lot of votes from 2019, the Tories lost shed loads though. Hard to know how that will transfer at a GE with what you imagine would be a higher turnout but it certainly backs up what you say. 2019...
Best thing Sunak can do for his party is pull the trigger for a GE in May at the latest. It must be clear to even the Tories that the longer they put it off the worse it will be for them. The longer they stay on the more they’ll piss off voters. It’s clear that the country wants change and the...
Didn’t think that Labour could win Dorries old seat but they have (took Tamworth too). Even by by-election standards that’s a big win. It was supposed to be the safest Tory seat in the country IIRC.
The election was stolen con being unwound a lot today. Sidney Powel has pleaded guilty to election interference in the Georgia election case and part of her plea bargain is she’ll testify against her co-conspirators. Presumably that includes Trump. She is now a prosecution witness. Presumably...
