In that case reporters are wrong. Even the highest estimations aren’t close to that figure. “Rape gangs” weren’t well defined but the report states by the best definition we’ve got in 2023 there were 700 offences, which obviously could cover more than one victim/perp. I think you’re confused...

For no reason? Or because we change the rules? I’d be surprised. Is there precedent for it anywhere?

Just luck sometimes isn’t it? Your buyer doesn’t come along, someone else’s does. Hope it sells soon for you.

OK just to give the most common devils advocate: refugee arrives aged 6, commits a crime at 19, doesn’t know anyone in their “home” country or speak the language. Still deport? You can’t retrospectively change laws no, you can change the rules for when ILR or citizenship is possible but you...

This is fairly normal around the world tbf. It leads to a huge imbalance between employer and employee but it’s common.

Questions for those with this as their main concern: Would you ever accept just changing who can come in and deportations for serious crimes, or are you at the point where you want people who are here legally and law abiding to be removed?

    Another stabbing

Tangentially related but: One of the things that makes me laugh about government privacy concerns is how crap we are at finding people and connecting datasets. My mate is living in council provided accommodation (as in just short of homelessness) was telling me his housemate just got arrested...

Second one is a bit of a random pick. It was the case the proved councils should try and find people social housing where they are settled which seems fair enough. And it’s over a decade old.

To be clear immigration isn’t even mentioned in the Casey report, ethnicity is. So if your answer is to kick em out then you’re likely talking about kicking out British citizens because of their ethnic heritage, not changing immigration law.

The problem is the “and so we X” question. We can agree deportations fell massively under the Tories as did border funding and Brexit opened the floodgates to non EU immigration which is less economically useful. But it’s fair to then ask what you want to do? We’ve spent a decade following the...

    Another stabbing

When you’re bailed to an address does that mean someone has vouched for you or what? So random that he’s convicted of immigration offences, sentenced to return to Albania, then two months later a he’s in Cov. What?

All they can do really is perhaps pay a bit more or get it on a few sites. These days if you’re on OTM and RM and got a sign out front you’re probably doing as much as anyone. Is anything going round by you? Maybe the market is slow, I’m only half looking and noticing more reduced prices.

Got to be honest I hate this “can’t get British workers to do it phrase cos yes that’s because we’ve raised standards of living beyond sleeping ten to a room and eating gruel. Foreigners don’t take these jobs because they’re better people, they take them because they are dirt poor and desperate...
