But not on the scale of “my ancestors nicked your land 1000 years ago” What US rivalry has the tribalism and history is the Old Firm or El Classico games? In fact which rivalries even go beyond sporting terms? From what I’ve seen it’s mostly the modern PL style “top clubs” type rivalry.

I’m not sure how having a hall of fame is tribalism. UK and Euro football is like it is because it’s a small densely packed continent with thousands of years of history behind all the interrelations. The US is just nothing like that. The entire sports culture is different.

That’s more about americas deification of the individual though and their celebrity culture than a fan culture. The celebrate greatness, but the fan culture and rivalry isn’t on the same level come on. Just the nature of the country’s geography means that.

Voted Kelly but only cos it was basically him and Fadz together and he was there from the start but Fadz equally. Doyle was great in many ways and uncaptain like in others IMO. Fadz and Kelly are archetypal captains. Just what you want to represent your club.
