Something that did puzzle me though was this third guy they mentioned, the one where one of the suspects got the name wrong and the detective corrected him. What happened about him? They stopped talking about him and I think he was released without charge.

Nothing at all adds up in their confessions past 'we killed her'. Everything is based solely on that.
