Basically the council were offered Radio 1's Big Weekend in 2011 and turned it down as they claimed it would cost them £140K (the actual figure later turned out to be £50K) so it went to Carlisle instead. Their council said it generated £1.7m for the local economy.

Didn't we have this trouble the last time we went abroad? Who do they use to organise these trips, could be time to look at getting someone else to arrange the trips.
That's got to be up there with the most expensive in the division. Unless you need to park there (mobility issues etc) I can't see why you'd pay that when you can park for way less if you walk 10 mins.
