How does your logic work exactly? So, if you were there yesterday, not knowing anything and you witnessed the intervention, it would be 'Well done, mate, you're a hero.' He then responds with 'I was convicted for murder some years ago.' You would reply with 'Then you are not a hero at all.'...

    London Bridge

Yup. Totally opposed to the death penalty and the knowledge that there is always human error and will always be mistakes, is reason enough. The killing of one wrongly convicted person is one too many.

    London Bridge

Disagree. On the surface, based on the information we have at hand, that was a heroic thing to do.

    London Bridge

True. I actually meant he should never have been released now. This should have never happened. 20 or 30 years down the line, who knows, but this was way, way too soon.
  5. Otis

    London Bridge

Nope. This incident yesterday has to be treated in complete isolation.

Mother of that 2004 victim. "He is not a hero. He is a murderer out on day release, which us as a family didn't know anything about. He murdered a disabled girl. He is not a hero, absolutely not. ' Yesterday, he WAS a hero. Murderer, or not.

    General Election 2019 thread

I have never, ever had a Labour candidate come to my door before. I don't know much at all about this new Labour candidate unfortunately.

Then you would have to ask yourself, as the judge recommended that this man should not be released for many, many years, why on earth would they only fit him with a standard tag? Just being back home at a certain time of night is not going to stop him carrying out any terrorist act at any other...

    General Election 2019 thread

It was shameful. He can try and defend it all he likes, but to send Gove and his dad in, complete with film crew, is disrespectful and not taking the global climate crisis seriously enough at all. I have now had three Tory leaflets through my door and had a phone call off them too. They seem...

    London Bridge

Hmm, something not quite right here I don't think. Apparently he had a previous terrorist conviction and was out on licence and wearing an electronic tag following his release. He was from Staffordshire, so surely it would have been flagged up that he was now in London and in the vicinity of...

Just been confirmed following a press conference by police.

They wouldn't. If they see a vest that appears to be an explosive vest they would be quite right to immediately shoot the perpetrator.
  17. Otis

    London Bridge

Nope. Just on the surface it all seems right and proper, but we only have a snapshot of the incident and what led up to the shooting.
  18. Otis

    London Bridge

Again, if the police didn't expect it to be a life threatening situation they would surely have deployed tasers. The fact he was immediately shot appears to show there was still significant threat to life, with possibly a suicide vest involved or the man in potential possession of a loaded weapon.
  19. Otis

    London Bridge

How can anyone say that? Based on the footage shown I don't see how you can come to any other conclusion than the response units still believed that there was still a significant threat.
