    Kieren Westwood

Hedman was a decent keeper in his day, though I still preferred Oggy. I'd probably choose Murphy over Westwood but of the last ten years those two would be the ones I'd take. Kasper on loan you could see was decent and I always had a soft spot for Fulop (RIP). Of course we've got the likes of...

    Tom Davies Virus

It can be debilitating to even the most healthy and fit individuals. If anything when it starts showing in those individuals they have a pretty bad case. Went to school with someone who had ME - practically bedridden for months.

    Biamou Injury

IF Biamou were injured for any length of time it could end up being the blessing in disguise JJ and TA's were last year, in that it forced MR to switch to another system. I'd say Biamou is the only striker at the club really even remotely capable of the lone striker role - although not the...

    Academy Players

Do you mean what age was Ponticelli signed? He was 17, and spent his first year in the U18 Academy team with Bayliss etc, when he scored 28 goals. However, I think he was signed similarly to McCallum, in that he got a two year deal so was in effect given a pro deal whilst in the academy.

    Maddison's mate in trouble

Depends though. Everyone knows someone who just seems to attract trouble because they get people's backs up and generally just p### people off. Then when it all gets a bit too tasty they disappear and hide behind their mates who take the flak. After a while you just have to let that person see...

    Academy Players

Ponticelli was an academy player, albeit just for one year rather than two. It's very difficult to judge how the youngsters would cope, having not seen them play in men's football. I've only seen a couple of academy games but definitely the three standouts for me Bayliss, Ponticelli and...

    Adi Viveash v Mark Robins

IMO, given we started last season with this formation before AV was here I'd say it's MR's decision. After JJ and TA got injured last year he changed it, with them returning to fitness (or close to it) he's reverting to it, despite how we improved without it. It does seem like he doesn't...

    Sterling negativity

What would you like me to expand on? I think most of the things for discussion are ways clubs would look to get round the rules. You do see things like 'signed on non-contract basis' which I'm not sure how that works. Maybe offering a kid a lucrative contract not as a pro footballer but, say...

    Sterling negativity

It does seem odd that clubs (including ourselves at times) seem more willing to give young loanees time to grow and make mistakes but are more reluctant with their own youngsters, despite the fact they'd see more benefit from their own youngsters long term.

    Sterling negativity

I think one of the few potential upsides of loans is that it enables young players to get to know more systems making them more versatile and get out more into the world and stand on their own feet. As much as I don't like loans it's probably better for the individual to be playing in a league...

    U23's Match at Ricoh

Decent point in terms of experience, but has JJ ever come across to you as a 'leader' in the sense of organising etc? Not for me. Plus coming back form injury I just don't think it's something we need to be doing. We should just be telling him to concentrate on his own game and fitness.

    U23's Match at Ricoh

Maybe so, but if the point is to prepare for first team football it should be approached with the same level of professionalism IMO.

    U23's Match at Ricoh

Not sure about Jones as a captain though. For me flair players don't need the burden of having to sort things out - just let them do their stuff. Defenders/defensive midfielders for me should ideally be captains - they tend to be have the game in front of them so can observe more and have to...

    U23's Match at Ricoh

Yep. With JCH hopefully someone who can hopefully hold up the ball to bring them into play and get onto stuff in the area. Be interesting to find out how it works out, but I imagine Jones will play 60mins tops.

    U23's Match at Ricoh

I think it's five a season at first team ground. So you'd imagine we'd want to do it before the rugby starts and when the weather is likely to be half decent to protect the pitch. Also to get a decent crowd you'd want August games cos the kids are off school so parents might take them up and new...

    U18/U21 Development Thread

Who are the right sided players in the academy? I've looked at the profiles and we seem to have at least three LB (Fixter, Whitmore, Martin) plus Endall who can cover there and McCallum who is technically available for them too. But no RB. In fact the only right sided player I can see is Lautaru...
