Sick to the stomach. This has been an issue debated and debated throughout the ages. We bring back capitol punishment, innocent people are going be killed by the state.

    London Bridge

How do you think I would feel? Completely devastated. You are getting away from the point though. We are talking about this one, single, isolated event yesterday. The guy yesterday seemingly acted heroically.

    London Bridge

I am always so disturbed by the notion that innocent people would be hanged, or killed by whatever method was chosen. It has happened before and would happen again. I always think how would I feel if that was a relative of mine and they were wrongly convicted and executed.

    Exactly.

If it was a heroic thing he did, he would be a hero for that one instance yes, if he risked all to save someone's life. You are looking at it too globally, as if in saying he is a hero for this, he is a hero in anything and everything. What I said makes perfect sense. We need to look at...

    London Bridge

How does your logic work exactly? So, if you were there yesterday, not knowing anything and you witnessed the intervention, it would be 'Well done, mate, you're a hero.' He then responds with 'I was convicted for murder some years ago.' You would reply with 'Then you are not a hero at all.'...

    London Bridge

Yup. Totally opposed to the death penalty and the knowledge that there is always human error and will always be mistakes, is reason enough. The killing of one wrongly convicted person is one too many.
  8. Otis

    London Bridge

Disagree. On the surface, based on the information we have at hand, that was a heroic thing to do.

Mother of that 2004 victim. "He is not a hero. He is a murderer out on day release, which us as a family didn't know anything about. He murdered a disabled girl. He is not a hero, absolutely not. ' Yesterday, he WAS a hero. Murderer, or not.

    General Election 2019 thread

I have never, ever had a Labour candidate come to my door before. I don't know much at all about this new Labour candidate unfortunately.

Then you would have to ask yourself, as the judge recommended that this man should not be released for many, many years, why on earth would they only fit him with a standard tag? Just being back home at a certain time of night is not going to stop him carrying out any terrorist act at any other...

    General Election 2019 thread

It was shameful. He can try and defend it all he likes, but to send Gove and his dad in, complete with film crew, is disrespectful and not taking the global climate crisis seriously enough at all. I have now had three Tory leaflets through my door and had a phone call off them too. They seem...
  18. Otis

    London Bridge

Hmm, something not quite right here I don't think. Apparently he had a previous terrorist conviction and was out on licence and wearing an electronic tag following his release. He was from Staffordshire, so surely it would have been flagged up that he was now in London and in the vicinity of...
