Match Thread Coventry City vs. Bristol Rovers Match Thread - Saturday 17th Aug

We deserve that. Was starting to look like another game with lots of possession and chances and no end product.

Dom't worry, few weeks in training and we'll get that sorted!

Not sure it should have been a corner to Sunderland in the first place.

    Megan Rapinoe

Isn't it a bit misleading though as they are actually talking about the salary cap in the NSWL compared to the MLS. In the NSWL its $16,538 to $46,200, in the MLS its a minimum of $56,250 without an upper limit per player (team limit is $4m but there are some players who don't count towards the...

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

But you can't know that nobody else would be interested. The price Wasps paid was the price they were prepared to pay when nobody else even got to bid so you've established a baseline. The only way is up from there, you just need one other interested party and the price rises and the local...

    Oggy on the radio

Think he's been decent so far and brings something different having been at the club for so long and also so recently. Remember he's not a broadcaster and is only a couple of games in.

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

Of course they did. Mutton was council leader at the time and I seem to recall him firing off comments about the rent and how it wasn't an issue because of how much the club was spending on players.

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

SISU might have been relying on it but it was far from certain. Of course now we'll never know but I could see the likes of the NEC Group (who have been diversifying to operate venues outside of Birmingham in recent years) or someone like AEG taking an interest. Anyone who potentially wanted to...

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

I would have assumed the primary objective for CCC should be the people they are elected to represent. Maybe you could explain how the manner in which they conducted the sale achieved the best return for the taxpayer. Maybe you can also explain how the loss of the football club is a good thing...

Has he had his name changed to England? Sure the other MEPs take him seriously!

Would also be interested to know why the council had to cover a hole in their finances due to lost rental income? What rent was lost? Certainly not the football clubs as they paid rent to ACL not the council.

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

Firstly for the stadium to be a burden on the tax payer means that the constant claims from Lucas that ACL was 'washing its face' were false. That can only be because she was either outright lying or had incorrect information supplied by Reeves and West. Either scenario is concerning and should...

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

Out of interest if Bolton or Bury were to cease to exist and SISU just took advantage of the situation to move us there would you be saying that's business?

Match Thread Polite Notice (AKA Grendel, Nick & Orca's Argument Thread)

Well this thread is thoroughly depressing, we seem to be going backwards. Maybe its just me but I thought one of the few things everyone agreed on, with the exception of the likes of Salop, was that the council selling the stadium to a London rugby club was detrimental to our clubs future.

Where were we playing when the council first approached Wasps? Where were we playing when the stadium was sold to Wasps?

    Try before you buy

Good idea. Be a lot of people who haven't renewed but have heard good things about the ease of getting there, the atmosphere etc and will be curious to check it out.

    10 weeks - any news ?

How does it put pressure on the council? When it came out that SISU had approached the council and the council hadn't responded there was zero pressure on the council but lots of people posting saying it was a waste of time and SISU will never build a stadium.

    10 weeks - any news ?

It really needs to come from the Trust, hence the numerous threads of here and social media wanting them to pressure all sides. They have the ear of the media and are the self proclaimed biggest fans group. If they started making some noise it becomes much harder for the Telegraph and CWR to...
