I started going away in the last seventies and I loved the experience. My lad has been to quite a few away games and grounds too and he really looks forward to them. In Fact, he's presented me with a list of ones he wants to go to this season. Top of the list, weirdly, is Shrewsbury.
Obviously not in the "best" category but my favourite grounds are the little Scottish ones. I've done most of them over the years and had a great time visiting places like QoS, Cowdenbeath, Alloa, Dundee X 2, Stenhousemuir, Falkirk, etc etc.
