    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

That was last Friday (626), last Thursday was 5,614 new cases and 539 deaths. Hopefully we see this trend continue for the next couple of weeks but I can't see how we're not going to have a spike then. Question is how big will that spike be.

    Wasps downward spiral...

Not surprising when you look at one of the criteria the BBC has listed.

    Wasps downward spiral...

Was listening to a round table with some economists discussing the current situation and the financial issues we'll face. They were talking about the companies likely to go under early on and it was pretty much a perfect description of Wasps. Companies which are running at a loss and have their...

Would also be a PR problem. If everyone else is being pushed back to work and you've got rich footballers refusing to play that doesn't look good. Even at L1 level the average weekly wage is a lot higher than many people who are being told they should be back at work.

They even admitted that when they described the Wasps Group as a property development company that happens to have a rugby club attached to it. Of course certain sections of the local media and their fans decided to ignore that.

    Wasps downward spiral...

Spot on. This is something Sepalla was correct about in her Sky interview. Wasps are maxed out, despite what they seem to have banked on their league isn't going to suddenly explode to match the Premier League. Remember looking at the viewing figures when Italia was having one of his rants and...

Interesting, wasn't aware of that provision. How do clubs walk away from contracts without breaking article 16, let alone leaving themselves open to legal action from the player in question?

They don't have to accept anything. Employment law hasn't gone out the window, it's a change in contact terms they'd have to accept. Players are unlikely to be accepting wage cuts of 75%, at best part of their salary will be deferred. There's also a moral issue, although this is football so...

If you're furloughing most clubs will be receiving an amount well short of the wage bill. Where is the revenue coming from to cover that? What happens in October when furlough ends? Doesn't planning to do nothing until at least October essentially write off next season?

Whats the alternative? Players contracts still need to be honoured so if crowds aren't allowed and playing behind closed doors isn't an option where is the revenue coming from?

No chance of it working like that. At most you'll get 2 or 3 people in the government. Any other blame will be pushed down the chain. Hancock will likely be the first to go, and then Johnson and then the government will make out the rest of them had nothing to do with it.

Depends how bad things get, they might decide to play the long game. Once this is over we'll likely have a huge recession to deal with while trying to sort out Brexit. We've got 4 years until the next election. If they think they can get that all out the way with something like 12 months to...

    Ticketmaster Refunds

Its to do with how card payments actually work. When you make the payment although to you it seems instant all that has happened is a payment has been pre-authorised and therefore the bank has removed that amount from your balance. The actual payment to the merchant from the bank is often days...

    Out of contract

Don't know enough about Young but you'd think him, Westbrooke and Wakefield would be fairly straightforward negotiations if Robins wants to keep them. No really anyone on that list you'd be devastated to lose.

    Premier League

IMO voiding the season is where the threat of legal action becomes more likely. Not necessarily from the clubs themselves but from everyone else. Everything has being sold based on competitive games as part of league competition. If you void that you open yourself up to the possibility of...
