New sponsor needed for next season?

Be about right. As soon as we get in the Championship and get sponsored by a betting company rather than a local firm it gets banned!

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Looking at some old press releases it seems 700 million doses had already been ordered, including by the UK, by the time the EU got around to ordering. As for paying up front that may be a case of semantics as the UK government put a considerable amount into the development of the vaccine and...

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Agreed, but you also can't do the reverse and shout about how much better we are doing at vaccinations while saying you can't compare cases, deaths etc.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

Not sure that's really what people have been doing. If you look on the covid thread its full of praise for how well our vaccination program has been going. You can be happy that we're getting it done but also concerned that the EU are struggling. It doesn't have to be one or the other. We need...

That would be how any other business would work. You go through the orders as recieved. If we ordered first we get delivery first. Didn't we gamble and place orders way before we knew if it worked and promised to pay even if it didn't? Of course if I was in the EU and being told there's no...

Hopefully nothing or just an admin thing but my surgery, who have been doing 800 plus a day, have said they won’t be carrying out anymore vaccinations until authorised by NHS England.

    A45 bridge access

Seem to remember the original schedule was for it to be open to traffic in October 2020 so I guess they're behind, or I've got it wrong, both equally likely! If its not fully open not sure there would be access as it will come out onto a building site.

Is that the one developed in Birmingham? Saw a piece on Sky News about that and the science was pretty mind blowing. They reckoned they could catch the virus in the nose and then apply a coating which prevents it from causing infection.

Will be interesting to see what the uptake is as we move forward. Is there a minimum uptake we need for the famed herd-immunity to kick in? Flu vaccine uptake seems to run around 70-72% in the over 65s, assume this will be higher.

    Hilßner debut?

Nice to see positive reports coming in. Obviously a big difference between the level he's playing and where we are, as we know from experience, but maybe he's not the complete write off some have claimed.

The EU: In, out, shake it all about....

When things like this are presented as the benefits of Brexit I find it quite concerning. Its the same as when signing a continuation agreement, ie: continuing to have the same terms we had as an EU member, is flagged as a success for the government. Are the expectations for Brexit now so low...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Think the issue is more how the data is presented. We know that a lot of people don't look any further than soundbites and we live in a world where things are reported on instantly. So when you have Johnson opening the briefing with: That's immediately all over social media and being reported...

Does the mortality rate for non-covid respitory deaths go up in the winter? Have that got data that compares mortality for recent weeks between those with the existing variant and those with the new variant?

This isn't very clear at all, and then they wonder why people don't understand the information they are given! Johnson comes out and says the new variant is linked to higher mortality followed by Vallance saying the data they have from hospitals is that the mortality is the same. There is other...

The latest ONS stats have the percentage of new variant cases dropping fairly significantly in London and the south east and nothing like the surge in other areas that we saw in London despite it now being all round the country. That's unexpected isn't it? Even if the number of cases overall...
