    Medical emergencies at football games

I asked this before but you must have missed it. Is there a point at which you would consider deaths to be too high? If you take our current death rate if that doesn't drop we're looking at covid being up there with heart disease as the nations biggest killer annually. Of course you have to...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Twitter have done some research into how algorithms impact amplification of political content. Interestingly for 'lefty twitter' it seems right wing content receives more amplification, particularly in the UK. https://blog.twitter.com/en_us/topics/company/2021/rml-politicalcontent

Great news from the first randomised study of booster jabs. 10K people in the study, half had the booster, half had a placebo. Among those that got the booster the rate of symptomatic infection dropped to from 2.2% to 0.1%. Edit: changed the link to a non-paywalled version of the Times article...

    City centre stabbing

Is that the one opposite West Orchards? Always seems an odd location to me but I guess with the amount of student accommodation in town these days there's more than enough trade.

Something is better than nothing. Ideally you'd want a higher standard of masks but given how much difficulty people seem to have with very basic public health information you've got to be careful with how you put things across.

Think there was a post earlier this week with another countries data on that was split out into vaccinated and unvaccinated. Understand we might not have that information for the daily figures but a weekly update along the lines of what percentage of hospitalisations and deaths are unvaccinated...

I would laugh at them calling it Unboxed but it will probably turn out they've paid one of their mates millions to come up with that.

The current 7 day rate for deaths equates to nearly 50K a year. Is that an acceptable number? That's a genuine question, is there a cut off point at which deaths are too high? It was only a few weeks people were talking about it being acceptable if it was similar to an average flu year, then it...
