Agreed at grassroots. But I think you want to increase it across the board, so it becomes an attractive career option.
Even L1/2 standard refs should be getting 50/60k+ IMO. It’s a thankless task to be berated for 90 mins by 5, 10, 20,000+ people.
Pay them more.
Some random googling tells me that “top premier league referees” can earn “up to £70,000”.
That’s ridiculous when players are earning £10m+ a year.
Surely if you want to do this you select a home game and arrange to meet in tavern/dhillons
I’ll be wearing a pink polo and holding a single rose with a copy of brokeback mountain in my other hand. Catch me if you can boys!
Brentford did it because there’s 0 point operating an academy in London if you’re not Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs.
Not sure if we experience similar from the likes of Villa, Wolves & Leicester.
I think our academy has been pretty successful over the last ~ 10 years.
When the ball hits the net at a packed CBS, that’s Ayari
When our new super swede is just what we need we’re in love
When we’re walking the league and we know we’re not dreaming, cov army
In a year we will be back in the Premier League, that’s Ayari!
Just seemed strange to sign a 20yo and immediately send him on loan to league two. You’d think if he was ever going to be able to contribute to the first team he’d be beyond that level.
I never understood the Cashman signing, he was already 20 and we obviously didn’t rate him high enough to be in the first team (with the immediate loan).
What was the point?
He’s been worrying for me.
I’d like to see us sign a left footer to start LCB, Binks can back him up and Lati can be cover for Thomas/Fadz.
Preferably a permanent deal but a quality loan would be fine.
