Simms amount of goals from last year is conclusive proof he has the quality. Sakamoto clearly has. I could go on. Current form does not suddenly mean they’re not Championship quality.

Is that a serious question? I’d say over the last two seasons the list is a long one. Dovin, Van Ewijk, Kitching, Wright, Simms, Sakamoto, Thomas-Asante, Binks, Rudoni. Some would make a case for Torp, Thomas, Bassette and Mason-Clarke. A team + 2 subs!

As far as any of us know we may well have offered James a deal and he’s said no.

Eccles = consistently one of our best and most impactful midfielders Torp = a couple of bits of impact. Very patchy, in fact we’re trying to justify him via the odd intercept or pass but in reality he’s a way off for me.

I think it’s the polar opposite. We’re moving in the right direction. Off the field is unrecognisable. On it we have our strongest squad in years. Season ticket sales are at record levels. The fans and team are together in a rare way. It’s all going in the right direction

Does anyone on here remember Trond Soltvedt? Torp is pretty much a mirror image. Good player. Can score a goal, pick a good pass and influence a game. But - just doesn’t have the nimbleness of mind or feet to be top notch.

Yeah, you’ve said it in your own final sentence. He’s not the answer. But he fits the narrative that we must have an extra midfielder. We do, but they must be better than what we have or are already paying for.

Kitching will go way up in value for me. Dovin as well.

Andrews: Young, needs game time, decent potential, no extra on the wage bill, stays fit, developing our own talent. James: Not the player we had 3 years ago, injury prone, extra cost, dubious impact certainly last season with Bristol. I realise everyone is frothing at the mouth for a midfielder...

When did James become Messi, the key to unlock our season. Maybe King has said something sensible to Robins such as give Andrews a go rather than spaffing £10k a week for someone who won’t play most weeks. He won’t be selected ahead of Torp or Eccles. Far less ahead of Sheaf.
