    I don’t think we’ll be relegation fodder. When Wright comes back we have enough firepower. But we really need to spend the next two windows reconstructing our defence. Binks, Dasilva and Thomas don’t have clean sheets in them. And we need to just play Dovin.

    Defence = hapless Midfield = average Forwards = busy but ineffective We need some aggression and old fashioned nous.

    Delaney to U21s

    It’s one of the things that worries me at the moment. Can’t think of a home grown player seriously pushing for a starting place since Eccles. Andrews and Dausch thereabouts but it’s a real dearth of talent at the moment.

    Why is this time going be different?

    I see this through the lens of a new car scenario hopefully. The brand new model was put on the road by Derby getting rid of those initial gremlins. Everton and Chelsea have increased reliability and handling and now we take ownership of a reliable, smooth running machine.

    The owner hasn’t changed so I’d be surprised if we got a raft of loans in. And to be honest I hope we don’t. One, maybe two max.

    Double edged sword for me. Would I have gone for Lampard - no. Do I think he’ll do well - no. But he manager of our club so I back him and hope he proves me utterly wrong

    Expectation is mid table this year and top 10 next. It’s where we are as a club. It’s by no means a bad place either

    Ellis Simms

    Simms is a strange one. He’s obviously capable of scoring. But his touch and general play is pretty woeful. Moreover I’m just fed up with waiting for him to fire up and really put it all in. I know he has a laid back style but if you’re going to get away with that you need goals to validate it.

    Got to play Thomas and Kitching. With mve and Bidwell. It’s simply our best 4. I was utterly amazed when we pursued Binks in the summer and he and Dasilva on our left is just free goals. At the moment we don’t just concede we contrive to concede from positions that should never produce goals...
