The collective expertise of SBT required

2003/4 was the season that Pead (7), Suffo (8) and Staunton (18) played for the Sky Blues. Finished 12th in what was then Division 1.

    Today is very special

A notable high point in the 50's was that for a spell we had the current England goalkeeper, Reg Matthews, who played 5 times for England during 1956. Remarkable when you think about it. A great memory for me as he was a friend of my Auntie Bett and took my autograph album with him and collected...

10 more would take us to 24 matches unbeaten. In the 1967 promotion-winning season we finished with a 25 match unbeaten run..

In fairness he does say 'with just over 10 games to play' and 11 is just over 10.

I never want to see us lose, but this has to be a good result for us, doesn't it? We're out of the Cup with our dignity intact so can concentrate on winning this league, and we've learned a bit more about the capabilities of our squad. And, as far as I know, we've incurred no injuries in the...

    Yesterdays Referee

Just a few extracts from the BR GasChat Forum Ref 0 The most useless incompetent inconsistent pedantic fecking waste of space I've witnessed for quite some years. Ref 2 Blimey O'Reilly. Where do they get 'em? Ref 2 worst I've seen Ref 1. For turning up, he was horrendous! Mind you, they were...

Match Thread Fleetwood Town vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 28th Jan

Somewhat premature to be declaring Fleetwood as a 'must win' game. It is important to show that the cup run hasn't knocked us off our league stride. The replay with Brum will be our 13th cup game of the season. In our League 2 promotion season we played 9 cup games but, of course, we do have 2...

    Tatics at home

Are we actually discussing whether we're better than last season? We've got 9 more points and have scored 10 more goals and conceded 3 less than at this stage last season.

    Tatics at home

You'll find this thread on every team's forum. Rotherham, the current League 1 leaders, have lost at home this season to Rochdale and Lincoln, and drawn at home to Tranmere and Shrewsbury. It is indeed naïve to imagine that we should batter such sides.

    The "Half" way point

Interesting to note that in the season we were promoted from League 2 we had 38 points after 23 games and McNulty had scored 10 goals in all games by then (same as Matt Godden).

    Wycombe fans view

From their match thread ...... Amazing that Coventry aren't running away with this league. They are the best side we've played this season by an absolute mile How have Coventry not won away, their number 26 was a man possessed, and the wing backs were excellent. Men against boys..... Coventry...

    Resilience

Any of you stattos know how many times we've won after falling behind this season? And how many times we did that in the whole of last season. Feels like a new, encouraging feature to our game.

    Wide open

Looking at the sides around us - Peterborough, Ipswich, Wycombe, Fleetwood, Oxford, Doncaster, Sunderland, Rotherham, Blackpool and Bristol Rovers, there's no stand-out side. Ipswich looked to be such a side but their two recent defeats have set them back. If we can keep a decent run of form...

It's 1961 and we've just lost 2-1 at home to King's Lynn. If someone came up to you and forecast the future of the club, what would your reaction be? Let's just sum it up in a few words Jimmy Hill Division 3 champions George Hudson Sky Blue revolution Ronnie Rees Division 2 champions George...

    Player ratings

14 posts so far and only one serious attempt to rate the players. Everyone is only too keen to rate them when we win. I couldn't get there today and a setback of this nature cries out for a constructive critique. Anyone?
