    My mate Dave...

.....who's a Fulham fan, points out to me that 20% of the goals that Fulham have conceded this season have been against us. Nice one.

    I was there when.....

I was there in 1956 to see Steve 'Kalamazoo' Mokone make his debut. My Uncle Doug, famed for his insights, said that 'he looked as though he could do with a bloody good hot meal'.

    Surprising Stat?

Only 7 teams in the league have scored more goals than us. But only 7 teams have conceded more goals than us. And yet, I have this perception of us as a team who struggle to score but are pretty tight at the back. Is it only me?

    Goal or no goal

I can't be bothered to read through this entire thread, so apologies if someone has already made this point, but the diameter of a football is about 9 inches so for the entire ball to be over the entire line the base of the ball has to be over 4 and a half inches over the entire line. This is...

    Remaining points prediction

True, but in that same time we've only lost to 2 of the better teams (QPR and Middlesbrough) and both times by the odd goal, with commendable draws at Blackburn, Sheffield United, Bournemouth and Huddersfield. 'Good season, nice progress' - have to agree

    Last season loanees

As Mark Robbins replenishes his squad, he'll be thinking about players who could cope with Premier League football. The players being discussed here are struggling to get into Championship sides, so the best they would be is short-term stopgaps.

    Last season loanees

Players respond, or not, to management styles and coaching. There are countless examples of players who did well with one club but not with another. Thanks goodness we have a good manager and good coaching. Long may it continue.

    Item Would you be happy?

I suspect that there are very few Man City fans who prefer the City that was to the City that is. Ultimately, if the Sky Blues win I'm happy and if they don't I'm not. Thoughts of ownership and investment wouldn't cloud that feeling.

Reading manager and the 8 minutes

I think the FA had second thoughts about this rule after witnessing the amount of abuse players got as they trudged round the pitch and the potential for crowd trouble that brought with it. Referees now tend to cover this aspect in their briefing to the teams beforehand, but exiting to the...

It's now clear to me that A P-B (Artificial Poster-Bot) is an advanced piece of AI which, having consumed the entirety of this forum, has been tasked with generating posts that will irritate the maximum number of members. I understand that it will replace an earlier prototype, released some...

    Surprise package

I don't know whether this has been discussed before, but which, if any, of our younger players will make their mark this season? Eccles looks a fair bet but what of Drysdale, Tavares, Bapaga, Reid, Burroughs, Rowe, Howley, Ngandu, Nee, Dinanga, Rus and others? It wouldn't be unreasonable to...

    So...

I have to admire the optimism in this post. Be aware that those 11 penalties cost us 8 points and 12 more goals, following the same pattern, would yield another 8 points. So, taken together, the extra 16 points would have taken us to 71 points, 6 points off the play-offs. Just underlines the...

England win Euros or Sky Blues get promoted to Premier League?

Am I alone in being astonished and disappointed that one in five of our fans would sooner that England won one match than that we had the season of our lives, and potentially secured our future? WTF.

    Gykores

Yes. We started with a 10-point deduction and would have finished 9th otherwise, still 13 points outside the play-offs. Only 3 teams scored more goals than us.

If I'm allowed to include Cup goals then in 2013/14 - Wilson 22, Clarke 18, Moussa 14, Baker 10 (21, 15, 12, 7 otherwise). In all we scored 84 goals (74 in League 1) yet finished 18th. Remarkable.
