    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Would be useful to know what question was asked. Do you support lockdown if cases, hospitalisations and deaths stay at the level they are now is a very different question to would you support restrictions if cases, hospitalisations and deaths rose rapidly.

    Things that annoy you

Fucking work - again. Someone makes changes at 8:30am this morning. Customer then calls up to say everything stopped working at 8:30am this morning, Call gets assigned to me instead of person who made the changes. Person who made the changes then claims this is completely unrelated and...

Fever Pitch : The Rise of the Premier League Documentary

How many episodes are there? Next one, according to the listings, is about Cantona and his lunge into the crowd and the Blackburn / Man U title race that season. Would love there to be an episode on the impact its had on the clubs left in the EFL and / or clubs like us that voted for the Prem...

Fever Pitch : The Rise of the Premier League Documentary

Was OK but not really about the Prem League, was just about Man Utd winning the league. Seems criticism isn't allowed, apparently everything about laughing the PL was an overwhelming success and went perfectly. Sadly they didn't seem to have time for anyone who might say anything negative.

    Things that annoy you

Not just people that are relying on you to go home. Even when that's not the case it gets pretty annoying for those of us without kids. There's multiple people at my place who take an hour, or more, in the morning for the school run and the same in the afternoon who never make up the time. That...

The problem is we're starting from a point where the NHS was already underfunded and having a crisis every winter. When was there last a winter without reports of hospitals turning patients away because they were full and ambulances queuing outside A&E? That gives you very little room to work...

That was the original plan. I made my parents flu jab appointments as soon as they were accepting bookings for that reason. Now it seems they won't be doing the 'one in each arm' which, assuming eventually they will say boosters are needed, just seems to be creating more work as people will need...

    Things that annoy you

I live 0.3 miles from the school. There's at least two sets of kids by me who get driven to school by their parents who I'm guessing aren't on their way to work unless they go to work in their pyjamas.

The concern would be we haven't come close to getting the numbers down as low as last summer. The hope would be that the vaccines will mean that isn't as big a problem as last year. Find the unwillingness to push the button on boosters odd given that we supposedly had them on order months ago...

    Things that annoy you

Not sure if this is really annoy or more a wtf. Do way more people not work than I've always thought? I've always assumed that, unless you've on benefits (so unemployed or unable to work for health reasons), in education or a pensioner pretty much all adults would be in the workforce. Having...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

They were discussing pensions on Sky News the other day and someone referred to a study showing ours to be the third worst in the world behind only Brazil and South Africa. Remember thinking that can't possibly be right but maybe it is.

Don't worry, that's another manifesto promise they're planning to break. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/pensions-triple-lock-12million-brits-24901780

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Nor do I but needing to pay for care isn't something that they've suddenly discovered so why the manifesto promises? And of course they've picked the tax that means those earning about £50K aren't hit as hard as those on lower wages. Sadly having once again been presented with an open goal by...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Look at the replies to that tweet. There's already people in there defending them for breaking their manifesto promise.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That can’t possibly be true. First page of the Conservative manifesto for the last election was a guarantee from Johnson not to raise National Insurance.

    Brazil v Argentina

Sad state of affairs when you think of how bad things were in Brazil and now they don't want people from the UK coming in. No idea how they thought they'd get away with it. Not like they play for low profile clubs over here or were trying to get into Brazil for a quiet holiday hoping nobody...

Must be hard making decisions like this for your kids. None of us are experts and personally I have little confidence that the government are always acting in our best interests.
