    25/26 January Transfer Window

When Lampard got the job, he said one of the reasons he wanted to come here was the quality of our squad. At the time, that seemed like positive sound bytes from our new manager, when in reality he probably only chose us because he was promised X amount of transfer funds. It turns out this...

Didn't think the JDS incident was a penalty. Blasted straight at him. The Woolf one looked more likely, although it looked like he was pushed. Thought we played better tonight than at Millwall. Apart from the glancing header in the first half, Pompey hardly created a thing until 2-0 down...

Match Thread Coventry City - Watford FC Match Thread - Saturday 25th Oct

Watford can be a dangerous team when they're on their game. Some great attacking players. Surely Sakamoto and Wright come back in. Simms doesn't deserve to be dropped, and nor does The Woolf but Frank clearly rested both last night with Saturday's game in mind. Outside chance Rudoni is on the...

JDS gets a lot of flack for some reason. When he came here in 2023, was our best player in those torrid early months of the season (4 defeats in a row at one point). Playing at LWB ( the role he was signed to play). Had a few mares post FA Cup Semi Final, but so did everyone. He seems to be...

Exactly what a good manager should do. Bassette did have something about him I will admit, but if he's a bad egg, then move him along.

Like everyone else, feeling nervy for tomorrow's game. Felt much the same for the Millwall match, but at least we had a good recent record at The Den. I think the nerves are down to being a long time Cov fan. These midweek away games at intimidating grounds in the past we'd always lose, even...

Rather we use him as a backup DM to be honest (when Grimes needs a rest) His best games have been there for us. He's not quick or big enough to play CB. His close marking, and tackling are his assets, and he's technically good, with a solid pass on him.

    What moment still haunts you?

Did a 360 on Harry McGuire after that game. He shook all our player's hands immediately once Utd won the shootout, and spoke very well at the end praising us and saying they were fortunate, with the empty UTD stand behind him, and 40,000 Cov fans singing on the other side almost drowning him...

Losing on penalties at Sheff Utd. FA cup quarter final replay, 1997.

    Home v Blackburn

Really bugs me too. I like the stand, with the white stripe running across it. Unique, but those empty spaces... Even worse beginning of 2nd half.

    Best Captain (post PL)

I voted Doyle, but was never a big fan of his during the Championship days, apart from when he was partnered by Dennis Wise for half a season. However, he was such a key figure in that League 2 promotion, and clearly cared for the club.

Blackburn will be drilled on their low block tactics, X2 for this one Going to the free scoring Coventry City, what else are they going to do Will be an interesting test. Norwich and Hull both picked up draws at the CBS this season, with the former riding lady luck, and the latter probably...

    Keeping Lampard

Frank is a bright fella. He was kind of written off after that 2nd stint at Chelsea. The media were begging him to fail it seems. What was blurred, is the fact, he got Chelsea Top 4 with a transfer embargo in his first season, and kept Everton up against the odds also in his first season. Not...

    Best Captain (post PL)

Stephen Hughes...Christ! I remember him. He played well in his first season to earn the bumper 3 year contract he was after, then basically was half the player we saw in that first season from that moment on. He would jog around in the middle playing simple sideways passes, letting Doyle do...

True, but Cov is a 2 hr drive from West London (training ground anyway) on a good day. We're the biggest club within 90 miles of London. (Watford, Northampton, Reading, Luton, Stevenage, Southend) and I do consider us a bigger club than Southampton

    Keeping Lampard

Realistically, he needs to get us promoted for any sniff of a Premier League job, but I think he needs to keep us in the Premier League (with some style) before the really temping offers may come in. Only scenario that he leaves after getting us promoted is perhaps he feels King is not backing...

    Thomas Asante

He wasn't a donkey. Technically he was quite good, and fast, but he didn't like the physical battle and seemed to disappear in games. Didn't have the hunger to be a CF

More chance of him leaving for another Championship club. Look at Steven Gerrard. He won the lot at Rangers
