Did he say that? He said they have been in touch with the club didn't he.

If I understand the situation correctly, the only offer on the table currently is 15M euros (£12.7M) as far as we can tell. Sporting keep saying they are prepared to up their offer to E20M but haven't done so yet I don't believe. There is absolutely no way we should accept their opening offer.

And besides, the club's stance on player valuations / transfers is not just about this one player

If Gyokeres' mental health is suffering now, less than a week into the window, what will he be like waiting another year?

This is always the problem when discussing player's salaries. I have no idea what any of them earn, and I doubt anyone on here does either, unless they are directly connected to the player or the club. As I said, the nearest we can get to it is by taking an average of what is shown on the net...

No, probably not . These salary webpages are notoriously inaccurate, but a look at 3 sites suggests Gus is on between 5.2K and 6.5K pw, with the top earners on about 10K.

I doubt we would need to make Gus captain in the next 12 months, it's about pay only I suspect. Waghorn, Palmer, and Bidwell probably earned at least twice what Gus and others earned last season. That didn't seem to affect morale as far as I cound see.

We have no idea what might be going on in the background, Sweden's round of Euro qualifying games finish on Tuesday I believe, so maybe something will happen next week

I'm sure it's been said before but while Vik is on international duty, nothing is likely to happen. The processes involved would require him to be available in the location of the purchasing club. In many transfers, the first thing we hear about it, is the player is undergoing a medical.

Yes, that was the point of my post that the instagram message was in all likelyhood just guesswork. my earlier post in the thread would clarify that, and if he does sign for Sporting I'm sure it will be a good move for him. However, a few alternative points to consider regarding your list of...

So 700,000 euros at today's rate is just under £600,000, which translates to £11530 per week. The post does say net but even so, I can't see Vik being interested in that salary.

I still think he will go for £20M+. Possibly to West Ham. I admit to finding it a bit amusing when I think of all the people who said his value is diminishing by the day due to only having 1 year left on his contract

Yes, it makes no difference as you say, which is my point. People keep bringing up that he could sign a pre-contract in 6 months, but whether he does or not makes no difference.

They can't lose him for nothing in 6 months. He is contracted to us until the end of next season. It's annoying that people keep saying that.

It's claimed today in www.hammers.news that west ham are seriously interested at £20M. I have thought for a while that he will go there, and nothing has happened to change my mind.

You don't get a bidding war if you take the first offer that comes along, there must have been several clubs interested in Robbie Keane though, as we more than doubled our money in around 1 year
